Yankees should sign Josh Hamilton

I know it's a little risky considering his age, his past issues and the money he wants but think the Yanks should make a strong push to sign him and let Swisher and Granderson go. Can always dh him towards the end of his contract and the thought of him hitting in Yankee Stadium really is exciting. Plus by releasing Granderson and Swisher the Yankees wouldn't be taking on too much money. Could also save some money letting Martin go and not resigning Petite.

My customers and I have been talking about this.

His talent is worthy of the contract, but the demons, especially the temptations that is nyc, makes it something I would avoid.

If anything NY is one of the worst places for him to sign for the reasons stated above. Way too many temptations there.

I can definitely understand the younger argument but he is only 31 and maybe we can get him to sign a 4 year deal. Besides if the Yankees were concerned with youth they would have kept Jackson and brought up Romine.

There's no way Hamilton would go to New York because of the intense pressure of the media, and the temptations.
He's already fallen off the wagon a couple of times in Dallas. He wouldn't survive in New York City.

Besides, the Rangers have changed their entire clubhouse culture to support Hamilton. During celebrations, they use non-alcoholic champaign and players know how to act when out with him. I think Hamilton will stay in Texas, partly because his wife knows it's best for him.
And as a Rangers fan, I hope he stays and helps make Texas a dynasty.

Being 31 is exactly why he will not sign a 4 year deal......my guess is a min of 6 if not 8.

Well the Yankees would definitely be taking a chance but other guys were able to get over past issues while playing here. Also think we might be able to get him to a 5 year deal. I think alot of teams are going to be scared to give him anything longer and if we bump up the money enough I think he'll do it.
