Yankees should sign Josh Hamilton

I can definitely understand the younger argument but he is only 31 and maybe we can get him to sign a 4 year deal. Besides if the Yankees were concerned with youth they would have kept Jackson and brought up Romine.

The Yankees would be going younger but all the top level guys are injured. Pineda, Campos, Banuelos, and Romine missed nearly all of the season due to various injuries. Betances regressed in a major way. Mason, Sanchez, Heathcott, Austin are all at least a year away. Warren got a chance and bombed. Pretty sure they'd love to get younger, but whereas last season was a banner year in the minors, this year has been horrific.

I sure as hell hope they don't sign Hamilton. Give Cano that money, sign Swisher to a moderate contract.

Thinking about it more, as long as they can sign him to 6 years or less, I think the risk is worth the reward. I think you let Swisher, Granderson, Martin, Ibanez, Jones go, sign Ichiro and bring up Romine. The everyday lineup would be

Gardner cf
Jeter ss
Hamilton lf
Cano 2b
Rodriquez 3b
Texiera 1b
Chevez dh
Romine c
Ichiro rf

Unfortunately looking at the free agent class next year and the contracts and personnel we already have, besides Hamilton, don't see who we can get that is an upgrade. We're stuck with who we have at 1b and 3b, 2b and ss are set. That leaves only the outfield we can upgrade and as someone else already said there's no one on the farm we can bring up right now. Don't get me wrong it's definitely a risk but the potential I think is worth it.
