I like this trade because I cant stand Melky. He took what he had for granted and now hopefully he is outta here. I would still like to see gardner get some playing time . It appeared last year at the end of the season that gardner was coming on. Next I woud like to see nady in left cameron/gardner in center and abreau back in right.Matsui DH and part time left fielder. Just heard on ESPN the cabrera/cameron deal is done. . NOW TO GET RID OF CANO, CANT WAIT FOREVER FOR THIS CHUMP !!!!!!!!!

Huge upgrade for the Yanks IMO

I'm not so sure... what does Cameron do that is much better than Melky? More run production, but not that much. More power numbers... but when you have the ability to strike out almost 200 times, I'm not so sure it makes up for it. Speed numbers are better for Cameron, but not immensely. Melky did have a terrible season though...

Well this certainly helps make them younger.

! year for Cameron. He is keeping CF warm for AJAx

I agree, I think we might see Ajax in the summer.
Maybe sooner if Cameron gets hurt.

Which is certainly probable. The thought of Cameron getting hurt got me very excited, as crappy as that sounds.

Cameron has the defense and the edge on offense as well. Melky isn't even an all-star calliber player. I think it was a great upgrade in which the yankees got the better half of the deal. Again this is my opinion

OK, i'm going to try to take the high road as a Brewer's supporter.

1. Melky is a 24, Cameron is 35. So not only is Cameron much older, Melky has room to improve. The Yanks don't do crap with ML player development.

2. Melky makes much less in salary. Now the trade isn't finalized, so how much of Cameron's salary the Brewers eat is TBD, but this could free up quite a bit (more) cash that could be spent on FA pitching.

3. Cameron never really had a home in the lineup, batting in every slot but 8th and 9th in the lineup. Melky will for sure hit 7th (with Kendall 8th) or 2nd, which makes the lineup more stable.

4. Maybe Melvin has another trade cookin' where Melky becomes the 4th OF.
