...But I would trade this kid that I love for Roy Halladay. Yeah, I said it. That's 1.5 years of, IMO, THE most consistant pitcher of the decade (lets not argue that right now).

I know D Melvin has said that Gamel and Escobar are untouchable, but that is only true up to a point. I mean, come on. Do you want to win, or do you want, argueabley, the tastiest FA to slip thru your fingers so you can keep a SS who is blazes with the glove but has proven ZERO in the MLB.

This should all tell you where I'm at with how I view prospects in the biggest of pictures. Plus, i have full faith and aligence to JJ Hardy. Hardy is one fo the few SS in the game that, defensively, would be the least to upgrade from; that's assuming you even consider Escobar an upgrade.

This post may also tip my hand to my long-hidden love for the Doc.

So would you be willing to give up Escobar, Gamel, and Lawrie? Because you know they'd be interested in a potential Canadian star.

Hive did you ever get the super?

Keith did you ever sell it?

I did end up selling it for $550. I wanted to sell it to hive, but he said it would take him till like the end of the summer to pay. I would have taken less to sell to him, but I didn't want to hold it for that long. I told him I was going to feel really bad selling it to someone else, but he gave me his blessing, so I feel a little less crappy.

ABSOLU-FRIGGIN-LUTELY-NOT!

I am not willing to sacrifice my future for a rental even if it includes all of 2010.

This won't be an issue though as I don't think Halladay would release his No-Trade to come to Milwaukee.

I don't know. I might toss in Lawrie. Gamel probably not. I half agree with the whole mortgaging the future, but Halladay makes us contenders for 2 years, which is also about how long we'll realistically have Prince Fielder.

think about it...

I'd give 2 of the 3 up for two seasons of Halladay and 2 picks in the 2011 draft.

I would suspect them to probably be interested in Corey Hart also. Maybe they would do Hart, Escobar and a low end prospect.

Either way it won't happen.

I would be willing to do this if they took Hart and left us Gamel or Escobar. But I am not about to include the following:

Lawrie
Peralta
Braddock
Arnett
Odorizzi

Especially the pitchers. It's been too long since we've had at least a little depth at pitching in our minors and that's really what got us into this mess after losing Sheets/Sabathia.

While I admittedly know little about minor league systems beyond the Pirates, it has surprised me a bit to see the Brewers repeatedly labeling Gamel and Escobar as 'untouchable.' While both seem like very strong prospects, neither seems like the franchise cornerstone, superstar caliber player that is typically considered untouchable.

I agree with the point that the Brewers need to take advantage of the 2 year window they have. The Central is currently very tight, and I don't see anyone running away with it this year. A true ace like Halladay could allow the Brewers to pull away from the pack and win the division, as well as giving them a full season next year, presumably with Prince, Weeks, and the majority of their current core still in tact. Additionally, I think the Central is going to become a much stronger division in 2011 or 12, with the Pirates' young core reaching the majors, the Cubs deep pockets, a young Reds team, and the likely lose of Fielder. I just can't see either of the prospects being valued highly enough to prevent the possible acquisition of a truly elite starter for a year and a half.
