2010 was a particularly blessed year for me. I set a bunch of goals at the beginning of the year, but followed almost none of them. Here are some of the highlights of what I was fortunate enough to pick up.

Awesome card. Interesting to see the "Big O" signature instead of the whole name.

Awesome card. Interesting to see the "Big O" signature instead of the whole name.

When the checklist for Leaf Limited was released I decided I had to have this card and dedicated myself to finding one of the 10 that were issued. I only came across one, and the seller foolishly (imo) started it at $99 instead of $0.99. I was the only bidder and snagged it for what I feel was a great price. It's one of my favorite modern cards in my collection.

That's an amazing price knowing what I paid for these two:

I still need to pick up a Cousy at some point.

Any idea how rare the "Big O" signature is compared to the full name?

It is great when sellers start the auction at too high of a price and scare off bidders. I've gotten a few steals that way too.

Yeah. Starting prices are key. Same thing happened with the Ted Williams patch /5 above. High starting bid, and I was the only bidder once again.

I'm not sure how 'rare' the "Big O" signature is. I do know there is a mix of full name vs. Big O autos on the bay right now, and seems some of the Big O versions have outlandish prices. But of course those are BIN/BO situations. I'd have bought it either way, but am pleased to have that 'variation' of the signature on the card, especially since it's /10.

Hilarious how the Ruth cut cost less than the Griffey! Makes no sense why the seller of the Ruth didn't authenticate it themselves and make a killing off of it. Good for you, though.

In 2010, I didn't have much luck finding new Mark Grace cards I don't already had, but had a few successes. There's a 1/1 2005 Absolute Memorabilia 3-Piece/Auto on its way to me that will be my top pickup this year.

Favorite pickup was a flag flown above Wrigley Field

I focused a lot on my Don Zimmer PC

And a few miscellaneous PC pickups

Overall, my spending was way down. I didn't bust much wax this year due to not being a fan of much of what was offered under the Topps monopoly. I'm shifting towards vintage pickups and maintaining my Mark Grace, Don Zimmer and Hack Wilson player collections.

My biggest purchase of this/any year is my 2001 Ultimate Collection Ichiro Bgs 8.5 (.5 away from 9 with a 9 auto)
My best deal of the year is the 2010 Finest Heyward Auto that i wasn't sure was ever going to be made/shipped. I bought it as a redemption card for 75 and it turned out to be the auto variation. Very happy with that card.
