Mine is without question, Gegard Mousasi.

He's 7-0 in 2008 with wins over top level competition: Dennis Kang, Melvin Manhoef, Yoon **** Sik, Jacare Souza, etc. He won the DREAM middleweight tournament this year to become their first middleweight champion. He is also still 23 years old. Today in Japan he just defeated K-1 veteran Musashi in a K-1 rules match too.

I really can't think of anyone else this year who has been more impressive.

I know it's gonna be an unpopular choice, but, Brock.

1) Brock has a 2-1 record this year
2) He beat a very recognized veteran Heath Herring, and a UFC Hall of Famer Randy Couture
3) He won the UFC Heavyweight Championship in his 3rd match in UFC
4) He made how many millions in new deals and promotions this year?

From all around standpoints, the answer is clearly Brock.

From a fighting stance, I would say possibly Rashad Evans.

However, Ty, your choice is excellent as well, and I doubt there is really a correct answer to this

Urijah Faber

He's only 2-0 in '08 but both wins came against Jens Pulver (21-10-1) and Mike Thomas Brown (18-4).

He's 21-2 going 11-1 over the last 3 years.

He lost via KO just last month.

Faber lost to Brown, and his WEC title went with it.

Faber, IMO, is an excellent fighter, however, I wouldnt mind a Torres/Faber fight, as I feel he could lose pretty quick, and has faced decent oppiosition at best in his career...as evidenced by the pounding Brown gave him.

I personally like Urijah, but, he's never had a real test

You're right....that was a loss to Brown, making him 1-1 for '08.

I still nominate him due to his dominance of his weight class. Sure it's WEC and I woul dlove to see him in the UFC but it is what it is. I think he could dominate his weight class no matter where he fought.

Brock had a great year, but he didn't have a "fighter of the year" year IMO. I would much sooner say that Rashad had a better year and would be the hands down "UFC fighter of the year". I respect everyone's opinion though.

I like Faber too, but I think Kid Yamamoto would finish him.

Lets rephrase...Brock had a UFC Fighter of the Year year lol

It is hard to argue a 7-0 record though, so you are more than likely right

Shinya Aoki also had an outstanding year: 5-1-1 record, most of those victories over top 10 opponents in his weight class.

Beat Lessner and Nog - that to me is a pretty good year...

I was unfortunatly thinking the same thing to be honest.

No love for Thiago Alves?? If I'm not mistaken he's knocked out Hughes, and Parysian and absolutely dominated Koscheck, all top 10 fighters in the division at the time of the fight. If it weren't for BJ, Alves would have the next crack at GSP.
