We need some new threads so here you go. When/where was your first game (MLB) and what do you remember about it? Did you keep the ticket stub?

My first game was July 12, 1986. I was ten and it was between the Brewers and the Mariners. Both teams had terrible years that year but that didn't make any difference to me. It was at the old Milwaukee County Stadium back when the Brewers were in the AL. The game had a two hour rain delay and was high scoring but other than that not much happened (I did get to see two future HOF's, though). We didn't have the best seats but that didn’t matter to me and the experience cemented forever my love for the game.

My first regular season game: I sat in the 2nd deck of Atlanta Fulton County Stadium for a Braves vs. Dodgers game in 1983. I don't remember much about it except I got a kick out of a big white button that said in plain black letters "Lasorda is a L.A. Jerk - I Hate Lasorda"

My first MLB game was in 1998. I moved to Toronto for university that fall and one of the first things I did was go to Jays game. I got there a couple of hours early to roam around SkyDome and check things out. Bought a baseball and thought I'd try to get it signed. As I walked down the aisle at field level I saw two Jays players signing at the fence, one at the section to my left and one to my right. Both were rookies I didn't recognize so I went to the left first. It was Kevin Brown, a little used catcher who didn't really go on to do anything stellar. I turned to go over to get the other rookie to sign but as I walked over he turned away and disappeared into the dugout. I did catch the name on the back of his jersey though... "Halladay".

1975 Metropolitan Stadium for a regular season Twins game. I was in first grade and my dad and I rode on the school bus as part of a school function. I remember sitting in the OF bleachers but I don't remember anything about the game or even the date. The only thing I really remember is that I had a snack and when I was finished I asked my dad where I could find a trash can. He told me to just throw it under my seat and someone would clean it up for me later. I thought that was so cool.

My first game was Game 2 of the 1976 World Series in Cincinnati. Reds vs. Yankees. I was only 4 so I recall almost nothing of the game. I know that it was really cold and my dad forgot to pack our coats so we huddled under a blanket the whole game. The only thing about the whole experience that I remember was sitting on the back dock at (current Reds Owner) Bob Castellini's warehouse eating hot dogs before the game. My dad was a friend of his during the '70's -- he got us the tickets for the game.
I bought a ticket stub and program about 25 years ago but am not quite sure where they are right now. I bought the bootleg dvd's of this whole series (the Reds swept the Yankees 4 games-0) on ioffer so I actually have the first game I ever went to on DVD.

I went to a game in St. Louis after the strike in 1981 and I remember the drunks behind us in the upper deck were super loud, yelling "Hey Lasorda, you stink! Hey Lasorda, you stink!" over and over. After a couple innings of this Lasorda came out of the dugout in the middle of an inning pointed in our direction and waved and then clapped. The whole section went nuts (and then shut up for the rest of the game).

I know it was a game at Candlestick in the mid-80s. More than likely the Dodgers were in town. I was in the Air Force at the time, and being young and still pretty dumb I was most likely 3 beers past inebriated... therefore that's about all I remember.

I do remember attending a doubleheader on July 26, 1987 when the Cardinals were in town (I had to look up the date). We were in outfield bleachers with virtually nobody around us, and there was a female Cardinals fan near us that was asking Todd Worrell for an autograph. Now granted, she was relentless with her request, but after he responded with something rude, I became a Giants fan for one day. We boo'ed his ass like crazy, and then went nuts when Will Clark took him deep in the 10th with a game-winning 3-run shot. I never liked Todd Worrell after that day, even when he donned Dodger blue.

My two earliest ones I remember were these at Riverfront Stadium:

1988 All Star Game (autographed ball of Daryl Strawberry MVP runner up, Danny Jackson 23 Wins, and Chris Sabo ROY)
1990 World Series Game 1 (Eric Davis hits a blast to win against the Bash Brother A's)

First game was Braves @ Phillies September 27th 1995, the Braves won 6-0 and Greg Maddux pitched and got his 19th win on the season 150th of his career. A few things i remember from that day. Jason Schmidt signed my Braves hat and i was really excited about that. I wish i still had it, sadly i was only a kid so i wore the heck out of that hat. I remember being so heartbroken because on of my favorite players at the time David Justice refused to sign my hat, I was 13 and he was signing autographs and i was right in the front with my Braves hat to get signed and i waited for him to get to me and when he did i put my hat out to him and he said no and moved on. I still have my ticket stub, Its at home. Then i remember Greg Maddux walking by with Leo Mazzone to go warmup since he was starting that night. A bunch of us Braves fans cheered for him and he wanted to come over and sign autographs but Leo told him no. Their are only two things i can remember from during the actual game was thinking how awesome it was sitting on the third baseline within spitting distance of Chipper Jones and i remember Marquis Grissom hitting a home run. Great thread by the way because i didnt even think to go back and look at the box score from the game. It was cool to see Eric Gregg was HP umpire that night.

My old granddad took me to 4-6 Phillies games a year when I was a kid. I probably would've been 5 or so, so 1975 or 1976 at the Vet in Philadelphia. I remember no details, only that it made me love the game and going to the ballpark. I do remember the Phillies never lost when we went, they were playoff teams those years, and that lasted until my non-sports-oriented father took me to a game in 1979. He also took me to my only NFL game, and the Eagles also lost. Way to bring the karma, dad.

I've posted this many times, so short version here:
July 5, 1995, the day after my birthday. Hideo Nomo vs John Smoltz in Fulton County Stadium. Nomo was coming off of back-to-back 13 K shutouts on his way to win ROY. Both pitchers went deep into the game with 10+ strikeouts. Some skinny, switch-hitting rookie third baseman for the Braves hit a 3 run walk off HR to send me home. I heard he had a decent career after that.

Old Memorial Stadium in Baltimore. I was like 5 or 6 at the time, if I recall. Orioles vs. A's. All I remember is that the Orioles won 8-4, thanks to an opposite field grand slam by Lenn Sakata. It BARELY cleared the wall. My second ever game was Orioles vs. Yankees at Memorial Stadium. What I remember most about that game is (well, two things) 1) during batting practice, we were along the rail and Steve Stone was walking by and tossed a ball into the stands that went over my dad's glove by about 4 inches or so. Also, I can't remember who was at the plate and who was in the on-deck circle (one was Willie Randolph, the other was Butch Wynegar), but the one on deck got hit in the face with a foul ball and the game was delayed for about 8-10 minutes while he was tended to.

1977 @ Wrigley Field, Reds vs. Cubs. Only 5 at the time, remember nothing about the game, but I knew who Johnny Bench and Pete Rose were at the time. 99% positive it was this game, April 23rd

First Cardinals game was August 22, 1982, a famous game for Cardinals fans.

It was a Sunday afternoon game against the Giants. We were on our way back home from vacation and the last stop was in St. Louis for a game. This was the first year I followed the Cardinals, listing to many games on the radio with Jack Buck and Mike Shannon. Willie McGee had a home run and a stolen base, but the highlight of the game (and possibly the regular season) was when back-up catcher Glenn Brummer stole home in the bottom of the 12th. After the 11th my mom said we could only stay one more inning since we had a 5-hour drive ahead to get home. Was never able to find my ticket stub years later, but do have the Cardinals yearbook we bought that day.
