Dear Grandpa Ron,

I'm sorry that the card does meet the condition you had hoped for. I strive to provide quality products to my customers and this is an apparent exception. Please accept my apologies. If you would return the card, I'll gladly refund your entire purchase price as well as the return shipping, with delivery confirmation.

As far as free Pujols cards for your grandkids, I'll have to politely decline. I don't like children, and I like grandchildren even less. The only thing worse than those annoying little bastards is a conniving old curmudgeon. They're always scheming to get free coffee refills and discounts on haircuts.

So I'll keep my Pujols extras, and will look forward to refunding your money when you return the card in the original condition. And by the way, do you have any extra Jeter cards you could include in the return package? There's a homeless shelter down the street and I bet those guys would sure appreciate it.

HAHAH!

The image of the shop is priceless. I almost spit out my drink. A crooked house? Who posted that?

No doubt. It'd be great if someone could photoshop a mountain of Pujols cards beside it.

:x Finally, Grandpa Ron is dropping his claim with PayPal. But in order to drop his claim he's agreed via email through Ebay for a Seven dollar and fifty cent and a few cheaper Albert Pujols to offset his asking. I know, I shouldn't give up so easy and cave in. I should just tell him to return the item and be done with it. But he's fighting it and not wanting to return it because he says it's not his fault. Okay, what a rookie mistake I made. I forgot to clearly describe the condition. I'm not going to do that again anytime soon. Especially realizing people like this exsist, they just ruin the hobby in so many ways.

So I just left work, but before I did I sent Grandpa Ron seven dollars and fifty cents through Ebay in order for him to drop his case. Now I'm getting a few mailer ready to mail out, of course Ron's cheaper Albert Pujols cards. So hear I am going through my Albert Pujol's singles wondering what to sen him. As I'm sorting through them I realize I have a message on my home phone. Guess who? It's Grandpa Ron saying he's not a **** and that we lived in America that he could ask for free cards. He then goes on how he and his son go to card shows on Saturdays to sell cards to sells there and that no seller would buy my card. Wait a mintue First he says he has a shop now he's saying that he sells cards to weekend show dealers? Okay, I'm done with this guy. I'm going to send his cheaper Albert Pujol cards and be done.....

At least the headache appears to be near an end for you. You learned some good ebay seller lessons through this and at least the price involved was relatively low. One last thing you need to make sure you learn from this as well: how to block bidders on your items. There's a good list of IDs for you to add around here somewhere :) Good luck!

Sorry, but it's your own fault. Who cares that you responded to another buyer about the damage? Your description says absolutely nothing about it. That is deceptive.

Further, the other thread does not say he retaliates if he doesn't get free cards. Not sure why you'd even bring that up, to be honest.

PS - If I were sending an email to Paypal regarding a case, I'd at least be sure to use proper grammar.

Thank you for this thread, and most importantly for being a STAND UP guy and admitting you had some lessons to learn. EVERYONE does, but nobody admits it.

But like Jeff said, i hope you farted in the envelope.

You need to ask what the grandchildrens names are so you can write their names on the backs of the cards. We wouldn't want the kids to not know whos cards are whos.

Scott from Illinois. Smart guy. ::facepalm::

Based on that site, this is nothing new for this guy. He's been pulling this same scam for over a year. Don't you think eBay would get suspicious is someone repeatedly had problems like this? How many times could the same guy have his stuff stolen or disappear, arrive damaged, item not as described, request a partial refund, etc? Jeebus.[/quote:2dv4gmsh]

So if you look farther down in topics on that site, is he the one that got brutally beaten as well?

I'm assuming that one of us posted that. That's not funny, and is actionable. Be careful what you write.

The store pic IS funny, though.

I was just thinking that. Posting something that is reasonably within bounds of being real may get him to back down from what he does, but saying stuff like that is asking him to contact that website.

On occasion I surprise a buyer with a free card or two much like the farmer will stick an extra ear or corn in a bag at the market. It is free good will and can bring the customer back to you. I cannot say I have ever had a buyer ask for additional and free product after winning an item however I regularly get notes asking to package the items well. When I did card shows in the 90's I'd get the occasional buyer ask if I would throw in a card in order to get a deal and THEN complete the sale.

In this case if I would have thrown in a couple of cheap cards to appease the buyer if for no other reason then to avoid the conundrum the OP is currently dealing with. I have a box full of cheap star cards collecting dust anyway. I certainly understand any seller not wanting to give away cards, especially after the hammer. The buyer comes across as sneaky and greedy but the seller left the door open by not accurately describing the card. Further, the seller needs to understand there is no "all sales final" policy on eBay. Sellers can put it in the description but it is not enforceable. I've received plenty of forced refunds from ****** bag sellers not accurately describing items over the years. Further, this "final" wording is likely to alienate potential bidders and reduce sales.

I can understand idiot buyers buy why is eBay still populated with poor sellers? Look at the scan of the OP's card. The holder appears to be all scuffed up and the image is not very big. If I'm selling a nice Pujols rookie I'm putting the card in a clean penny sleeve and top loader. If I want to jazz it up I'll use a one-touch. As a seller I want the card to look really nice in my scan/image. If the image looks like crap then a buyer might think the card is crap too. A scan of the front and back is helpful on more expensive cards. I'm also noticing a lot more card auctions using camera images and many are likely from cell phone cameras. How can I get a good look at a card in these fuzzy and angled shots. If I cannot get a good feel for the card centering in the image then I'm likely to skip the auction. Why do sellers still scan white bordered cards with a white (default) background? White border cards really pop with a black background.

I see he has a car amp up for auction. http://cgi.ebay.com/NITRO-BMW-481-CAR-A ... 27b7d34a29

I wonder if someone won this, they could message him asking for a free car as a throw-in. It would be for the grandchildren.

Yes, Grandpa Ron already attempted to sell this item and of course the buyer returned it. Grandpa Ron probably asked for a few extra dollars for his Grandchildren in the process. If you look, you'll see the buyer gave him negative feeback and of course Grandpa Ron had this to say:

Amp was NOT new. Old cable connected to it, obvious signs of use. Fuse missing. Buyer: Member id diamond_graphs ( Feedback Score Of 244) Dec-23-10 18:08
