For those of you who don't mind tossing a few numbers around: How much do you spend - on average - in any given month, on the hobby? This could either be through eBay (singles), trading (shipping costs), Box-breaking, card shows, etc....

I said 151-300. What i spend varies very drastically. Really depends on what comes up of my PC guys as I haven't done much true "prospecting" over the last 12 months. I'll be spending more soon on wax as well as singles in BDP and EEE.

Average it out, college boy...

Would you like me to shout motivational phrases at my computer screen while you do the math? I know you are pretty lazy, so I thought it might help. LMK Harrison.

Average 151-300. If I keep spending the way I have the last two months, the average will be going to 301-500 very soon

I used to spend 200-400 a month in my hayday of pickups. Now that I've been out of work for close to a year while I'm going to school, I spend about $10 every 2 months. I'm spending all my savings on bills, and selling cards for food. Its tough times and I can't always eat everyday, but we'll get through it because this is our hobby, and this is America!

Happy Holidays!

I'm sorry to hear that, and what you've been forced to do. I appreciate your optimism and I hope it all ends well for you.

Thanks, I try to be optimistic.

I'm just happy that I don't have a family to support because that would make this workless period that much harder. I fear the time I would ever have to go through this with a family on board. I've got a few more years, and I'll be on top of my feet by then.

I'm doing alright unloading cards, and I'll continue to do that until I lock down another job. Just sometimes people don't pay when they're supposed to and I can't take a break from studying because I can't afford it.

Anyways, I appreciate the concern but I'm getting by for now.

Thanks,

-Andy

I used to spend quite a bit every month when I would flip stuff but my job prevented that the last couple years. I would say I spent less than $1K this year on cards.

Andy,
I don't post here often but wanted to wish you the best and hope you get through this rough patch soon.

I spend about $10.50 a month so your poll doesn't really work for me.

Seriously, though, probably $15-20 per.

What might make this poll more interesting would be the amount spent from entirely new funds - and not including funds reinvested or repurposed from card flipping.

Too much on busting wax.

2010 I have a budget planned out, and will be spending less on wax and more on vintage and autographs.

I dont bust wax or prospect as much as I used to, so the number has definitely dropped. I used to be in the $2500-$3000 range monthly. Now, I would say I spend in between $1200 and $1500 monthly depending on what comes up.
