I know I'm biased, but I think you have to go with Biggio over Sandberg for 2B of the '90s. Sandberg's decline years were in the '90s and he missed three seasons in the mid to late '90s. I could probably go with Sandberg for the '80s though.

Alomar's stats crush biggio's for 90s

Actually, they don't. Biggio's and Alomar's stats for the '90s are pretty close. Biggio had more games played, plate appearanes, at-bat, runs, hits, doubles, home runs, stolen bases, walks, total bases, HBP, higher OBP and about half as many GIDP. Alomar had higher RBI, batting average, slugging and OPS, and fewer strikeouts and caught stealing. Overall their stats are pretty comparable and I think arguments could be made either way.

Can't forget that biggio was batting leadoff, pretty unfair to give credit for more at bats and plate appearances.....actually, it is downright silly to give him any credit for that.

Funny that people take that into consideration.

Looking at how they ranked in mvp voting and the fact Robbie made AS appearances every year from 1990 to 1999, i don't think the fans agree...
I just found a poll from 2000 (right after the 90s) for what the fans thought at that time....check it out applicable to this thread.

I was just going down the list of stats and those were among them. Take it for what it is worth. Along with games played, they indicate that Biggio was on the field more than Alomar, which is worth something.

Oh please, the "fans" have been known to vote players to the All-Star team when they had been on the DL for a huge chunk of the first half. Alomar was a great player, I just don't think it's as obvious a call as you do. To each his own.
