Zach Duke added to ASG roster

He was just added as an injury replacement, according to the Post-Gazette blog. No word yet on who he will replace.

I'm very happy to see Duke make the roster, after the struggles he went through the past few years. It's discouraging to think how good he might be right now if Jim Tracy had not destroyed his mechanics...

I have a feeling they put Duke on over Gallardo in case Freddy Sanchez is traded before the ASG. Many sources are saying he could get traded before the ASG so they probably did this addition to make sure the Pirates have 1 guy on the team no matter what happens

Good for Duke. Pitched very well, just doesnt get the run support of some of the other teams.

I think it is likely because Duke just pitched a good game against the Phillies so he was fresh in Charlie Manual's mind.

I know some people are going to complain about Duke's 8-8 record. Please know that the Pirates have scored 7 runs total in those 8 losses. Two of those losses were complete games including the one against the Phillies on Friday. Duke has been excellent this year, cutting down on baserunners and missing more bats than last year.
