A little war of words on twitter from Ziegler over the Peralta contract. I agree with him they should make the
penalties extremely harsh. There is only one way to make baseball clean. That way is to give a lifetime ban for the
second or even first positive test. Personally I hate that we signed Peralta as a Cards fan.

I'm sorry to be the lone dissenter here guys, but I really don't care. I think they should legalize and regulate them. Since when has baseball been clean? The 60&70's nope, the 80's lol, the 90's were even worse. Legalize them, let the team doctors administer them to the players that want to use them. If you don't want to don't. The doppers will always be a step ahead of the testers. The other thought is- this is not a game anymore it's entertainment with billions of dollars being paid out. Why are we so critical of MLB players when actors use all kinds of drugs and we still watch their shows?

Contact lenses are performance enhancing--it's time to make HGH legal.

Baseball should just make all contracts voidable for positive tests. Of course then that would open the door to false positives for teams to get out of bloated contracts. Just can't win either way.

Mine is... but where is the line drawn?

That's a valid point, I'm writing a research paper on PED's and the line is only where someone decides it is. Who makes that decision? Why do they make it? How come you never hear of any big time NBA guys testing for PED's?

well sticking to the same train of thought, getting healthy, practicing, etc, would be enhancers and I think we can all agree, those are not cheating.

I thnk the line is taking drugs, ped's that make you bigger, stronger, or faster or combos of each, that you couldnt do naturally.
The goal is to have a level playing field The greats will be better, on pure talent, and the rest will follow.

As I have said a few times, I had a few friends in hs who used. One put on 25-30+ lbs over one summer as a soph in hs, he contiuned using and had a nice career
at usc and 7-8 years in the nfl. The other friend Used for a short time and ended up making it in the cards org and was called up for a few starts. Another was just a good friend.
He hated that myself and our other buddy were so much faster than he was. He was strong, an ok athlete, but couldnt jump and avg speed. On a football field, I could beat him by
25-30 yards accross the field, maybe more. It wasnt close. He started using and after a few months asked me to race again. We used to run through the hills in the bay area, much like jerry rice
was known for doing. After our run, we had about a 200 yard walk back to our car. He looked at me and said lets go. Granted, I was pretty winded from the run in the hills, but even still, I
would have normally killed him. we ended up touchin the car at the same time. Thats huge and it isnt natural.

When you are taking drugs, meds, peds, that give you an advantage over other athletes, gains that can't be had naturally, that is cheating and there is the line.

Look at what the peds years did for bonds/giambi and you an see the change in player. Its huge.
the increase in speed/strength took bonds from 295 35 to 360 60(at ages after 36), Thats not natural and thus an unfair advantage.

I really disagree. Just because there are cheaters doesn't mean we cater to them. We also do not bring ourselves to their level by all becoming cheaters.

Based on your statement What you have now done is made it necessary to take PEDs to anyone who wants to succeed in the sport. This trickles down to the school level. If you are a junior high/high schooler who wants to perform at a level at which you get playing time you will need to take PEDs.

I do agree though that the line is thin and blurred. Modern athletes have access to new equipment, technology, and medicine that makes it easier to "enhance" performance. Like has been already stated though, those are still at least natural.

In no way shape or form should it be OK to use PEDs in this sport.

I dont care if a major league player uses PED's until there is an actual test to catch those who are using it which seems to me to be alot of players. But for those coming up with things like TJ and the gym, get your heads out of your...lack of knowledge.

Admit you dont care he was caught and move on...

And why would a doctor administer a drug with no medical indication to someone?

For the betterment of the United States as a whole.

Could you imagine the incredibly mediocre numbers Jorge Cantu could have put up if he juiced every day? He would have been slightly above average, and that's better for everybody.
