"Officially", it's a sample but in reality it's a regular pack issued card which pinnacle clipped instead of stamping "sample"

I knew Pinnacle did it this way, but is this an actual Sample, or something someone did with a pair of scissors at one point? I've never seen a setlist for this year's Samples.

That was common with a number of mid 90s Pinnacle brands promos. Often they would come inside sealed cello packs. Some had holes punched, others can the corner clipped.

Someone here had a promo booklet, with several base and inserts with clipped corners. It was a neat piece, I've never seen another; never seen any with holes punched either, but that's something I'd like to see.

All the one's I've had look machine cut. The "corner clip" is exactly a 45º angle, the edges are the same as the rest of the card, and the size of the missing portion is exactly the same. I think Pinnacle had a die machine for cutting these. They don't look hand done to me at all.

I've found 2-3 of these in those retail variety boxes over the years, always in the ones with the bulk card lots that are mostly early 90's junk.

I believe it was 94 Pinnacle FB that had holes punched. I was collecting James Jett at the time and he was one of the promos.

I don't chase in the least bit because these cards can be made by anyone with a scissor.

Yes I do have several which are still sealed in the original wrapping but have no desire to add more.

Got this. Printed on consruction type paper. It got a bit wrinkled in transit. Different colored borders and photos from what they actually went with.

Have to like ad sheets with different cards than the ones that actually got printed. The proofs for those cards that never got made are hiding somewhere.

I searched high and low for the 1993 UD 5th Anniversary Frank Thomas card with the gold border that showed up in card ads until I finally realized it was just an image and that none of the real cards had the gold border on them.

Picked these up yesterday. First Maddux I have ever seen. Have seen photos of the Frank on multiple occasions. Third Ripken I have owned. The other two I have sold for $75 and $80 in the last couple of years. I also own the Boggs and Mondesi. There's a Puckett on COMC right now that athletics07 (I think) has listed. Never seen a Bagwell or Joe Carter.

I love the "rookies & CHASE" ones because obviously Donruss renamed the product.

I read they did so because MLB didn't like the gambling feeling "Chase" gives out.
