2023 Heritage

I’m doing the 1974 Topps Baseball set and have decided to put together the 2023 Heritage set, because it uses the 1974 Topps design. I will compare both sets and post my progress on the 2023 Heritage here and the 1974 Topps on my original post.

Happy Heritage Day
I saved my Target gift cards from my students for the 2023 Heritage cards. I went today after school and bought two boxes and one hanger. I haven’t opened them yet. I will post pictures later.

I opened the hangar box first.
I got one high number-Alex Verdugo
A flashback baseball-Tom Seaver
Michael Harris II and Riley Greene rookie cards

Going to chase the Garvey inserts. Several toughies that I will either need to be very patreint for or pay strongly.

He has a base auto, red auto, flashback or clubhouse relic Au/25 and a dual with Jeff Burroughs /25 (saw redemption card for that, so BOOOOO!). Never buying another live redemption card as long as i live, unless it is for the redemption card itself and not the prize. I saw a red quad sticker/stamp card that someone listed as "only one on ebay" and it was $69.99 OBO and someone bit. There is a regular version too, plus maybe a couple other inserts. I may try to snag a few real One autos besides Garvey, but the only obscure one I saw that caught my interest is Bobby Darwin, a very brief Dodger in the late 60s.

Fujinami, Senga and Yoshida all have SP rookies in this set. The first few copies have gone for stupid money. If you hit one list now and pick up copies later when the hype dies down.

I know, I went a little crazy. Bought 3 Hobby boxes. 4 cards short of the base set (1-400). Got 8 SP's per box, all different! Hit 1 B&W, Sonny Gray and 1 Variation, Bryce Harper, Image. The hits were three base relics. Box toppers were one stamped buyback and two oversized cards (1,000 of each), both Ohtani.

see this is why i hate this product. You spent how much to only pull 3 game used cards? I love the old-style reprint cards like the archives and so forth but for the price of the box you get basic stock cards and no autos....

Buying wax these days seems to be a losing proposition to anyone who wants their value from the contents of the box. I guess you have to chalk it up to entertainment value and lottery risks, otherwise we'd be back to base Topps packs for $0.30 a pack with nothing to show but your favorite players newest card (which wouldn't be the worst thing in the world). I love all of the innovation and value that newer card issues bring now days vs the old days, but that is also why I buy aftermarket singles and no longer play the pack break game.

I bought two of the Big boxes from Target online. My best pull was a Masataka Yoshida SP. What hi #s do you still need?
