Here are Matt Rizzotti's last 7 Games.

AVG - 0.560
AB -25
R - 5
H - 14
2B - 1
3B - 0
HR - 5
RBI - 14
BB - 3
SO - 3
SB - 0
CS - 1
OBP - 0.714
SLG - 1.320
OPS - 2.034

Gilmore, are you going to try and tell us he doesn't deserve it again this time?

he deserves whatever accolades anyone is willing to give him

However he doesn't fit what this hot sheet is all about.

Look past the title to the philosophy and history please.

Sometimes. .. just sometimes... a kid doesn't become a prospect until a few years in the minors. Rizzotti's stats are insane ALL SEASON LONG. No one wants to admit it, but if he finishes the year like this, he's a solid prospect.

He hit .360 in Single A with 1 HR
He is hitting .360 in Double A with 10 HR

He has been mashing all year, wherever he plays.

::sigh:: It's not just about stats.

Hmm, I guess I don't see the criteria anywhere.

I see it called the Baseball America Hot Sheet.

I don't see it called the Baseball America Top Hot Prospect Sheet, or the Baseball America Next Babe Ruth Hot Sheet, nor do I see it listed as the Baseball America Future Hall of Famer Hot Sheet.

So, what is it?

It's BA's philosophy. They take potential into account just as much as they do stats.

He's blocked off from Philly by Howard, thus limiting his potential.

Ah, that's right. And when Howard's "potential was limited" by Jim Thome, yet pounding out 30+ HRs in Reading and Scranton Wilkes-Barre, he would never have qualfiied either.

So what you're saying is that if Rizzotti played for another team in the NL that had 1B woes, or an AL team where he could DH, he'd be on the list?

It was just my opinion. If you want to know BA's reasoning, by all means, use this link.

And for the record, Thome was already on his way out the door at the time. Howard was going to be his heir apparant. He is now the cornerstone of their franchise. Rizzotti has to basically pray for another trade, which I don't see happening.

the odd thing is, I have Rizzotti cards

I pulled a few, and bought a few because he was cheap for power.

I don't hate him as a prospect, but i think the deck is stacked against him a bit.

Send them to me.

If you like him so much, you should go buy them up.

They are dirt cheap.

Send me a list of where I can find good stuff and I will. Nothings out there.
