I love that "Gold Certificate Of Authenticity", as if a "gold" COA carries extra worth, you know, beyond the paper it's printed on. It says "Congratulations! You are the owner of a relic from an American historical figure". For some reason it made me think of this:

I can't say with certainty that I wouldn't chase after something equally stupid if it were a Garvey possession, but sometimes this stuff is just nutty. A random object that has nothing to do with the sport, and even things like cars or other big ticket items like a residence. are a little too far out of the reasonable collecting scale to me.

I guess i'd have to see it first to know if I would pick up something weird, but the oddest piece I think I can claim currently would either be a couple HS yearbooks or a Christmas card he sent out picturing his wife and daughter (but not him).
