Really, cuz ubaldo jimmenez, latos, lincecum, kershaw, cain, zito, sanchez, wilson, billingsley, clayton richard, broxton, bell is hella weak.

yes, they are weak. I'd have no fear standing in the box against them.

That's the problem with MLB today, no pitcher like Gibson who will make the plate theirs and not the hitters and go to any means necessary to let the hitters know it!

I wish we could transplant the 1960's Bob Gibson to today and have him face Posey for 10-15 at bats and see if Gibson makes Posey his b****!

This could be said for 99.999999999999999999% of players today. Gibson is one of the best pitchers ever. But if you want to play games of what if lets see what Gibson would do with a lowered mound.

I'd actually take Marichal over Gibson, but in todays game Gibson would be a very different pitcher, batting helmets weren't as good in the '60's and not much in the way of protection. No need to fear the inside pitch now, of course any human would have issues with losing sight or their life to a 100 mph pitch but with better protection todays hitters have the advantage. Plus the MLB lowered the mound to stop the advantage pitchers in Gibsons era had, ever wonder why so many sub 2.00 ERA's and huge K totals come out of the '60's. Plus, Posey is a catcher, he sees pitches all day long and I'm sure has no trouble standing in to take hacks at a few more.

Posey hit .417 in July and his 43 hits broke the Giants’ rookie record for a month (previously held by Jim Ray Hart in 1964). Posey also had six doubles, a triple, seven home runs, 24 RBIs and scored 20 runs. That’s good for a .466 on-base percentage and .699 slugging percentage.

Buster Posey was named the NL's rookie of the month and player of the month for July.

The catcher hit .417 (43-for-103)in 27 games with 20 runs, six doubles, seven homers and 24 RBIs. His on-base percentage was .466., his slugging .699. He had a 21-game hit streak. The 43 hits broke Jim Ray Hart's San Francisco record for most hits in a month by a rookie.

Last Giant to win a player-of-the-month honor? Randy Winn in September 2005. No Giant ever had been named the NL's rookie of the month. It's a fairly new award.

Buster was recalled from Triple-A on May 29. He has the league's highest average (.356) since then while hitting safely in 43 of 56 games -- including 24 of the last 26. He has 21 multiple-hit games, including seven games with three or more hits.

Dude is hitting .429 on the road. With a 15-game hit streak.

Defense? Tim Lincecum swore by Bengie Molina. Now he likes throwing to Posey, who has caught four shutouts this year, including Tuesday's. He was the first rookie in big-league hsitory to catch back-to-back shutouts started by former Cy Young Award winners. That would be Lincecum and Barry Zito on July 15-16.

Want more? OK. .353 with runners in scoring position, including .423 over his last 22 games.
