Closing out October with a big mailday:


A couple of neat Triple Threads cards (the triple is Sean Murphy/Jesus Luzardo/AJ Puk 17/27), a couple of 2019 Topps '84 auto variations /150 and /50, and a Museum Collection Matt Chapman GU/auto 139/249.


2006 Flair Showcase Autographics Jason Kendall, which is an SP with a print run of 46. 2012 Topps Chrome Red Refractor Brad Peacock RC 16/25 finishes my non-auto needs from that set, still need two rookie autographs. 2021 Topps Chrome Platinum Vida Blue Autograph gets me to 10 out of 12 A's in that set. Then there's a couple of prospects, Blue and Gold Refractor.


A couple more 2022 Pristine Autographs, the Zito Gold is 15/50.


This is another big Dilfer pickup for me, 2002 Playoff Honors 10th Anniversary 10/10. It's 20 years since the set came out and I think this is the first one I've ever seen. It popped up with a BIN of $8.50 delivered and I grabbed it right away since I'd pay ten times that. That was back on October 5. The seller sent it eBay PWE shipping (which is fine, that's what was stated in the auction) and there were never any tracking updates. I had just about given up on it until it showed up today with 39 cents postage due. Beats waiting 20 years to find another one.


Picked up this...thing earlier this month. The language on the back isn't exactly committing to the swatches being game-used. It says they came from Upper Deck but it seems to be an old Tampa Bay "creamsicle" jersey and UD never made a Dilfer Bucs jersey card, so who knows. I've never seen one before so at least it's an interesting item. If it's legit it seems like something from the early 2000's. There's always a chance it's phony and somebody had some of these blank pieces of cardboard from Vintage Sports Cards back in the day, and threw some garbage in there because they knew an idiot Dilfer collector (me) would pay $30 for it.

Ending October on a serious bang. There were more, but left off a lot of the cheaper, more recent football players who probably have no shot at HOF status. They were often add-ons when I was buying something else. This may take a few posts...Despite feeling the last couple of years have been a kick in the nuts for collectors, I am having a ball chasing cheaper autos of HOF football and basketball players that I missed before, when my focus was lazer-baseball. I just can't get enough signed cards, no matter who they are. I like the idea of not only a card to commemorate the player, but that the player signed their name to add some flair.

Lots of football too, but these are oddballs despite coming from a football product

Milton Berle and Martin Mull, 2 comedians. I don't really collect non-sport, but these seemed like something worth grabbing as they fit my autograph interest quite well. Special signed cards inserted into packs in the 90s.

Comish Tagliabue is similar to the first two, so yes, I needed to add him as well

Charlie Taylor rounds out those I am sharing, but maybe 10 more of these that I am not.

Merlin Olson is probably the most exciting of the bunch, I didn't have a certified auto of his.

Can't seem to get enough of these, even if I finished the set. Cheap in mot cases and on card! Nitschke and Maynard

These are pretty awesome too, Fouts and Jaworski.

Last mail day of October wasn't a big one quantity wise but quality is pretty good.

2001 Fleer Greats of the Game Robin Young SP /400 - My intent with this set isn't to grade it but it seems like most of the SPs are in slabs so it is what it is. I'll either buy a raw Yount in the future (if I find one decently priced) then sell this one or just crack it out.



2022 Topps 206 Sweet Caporal back Ryan Helsley /~29 - One more for the Helsley 206 rainbow. Just need the Tolstoi /25 (bidding on one now), Principe De Gales /15 (haven't seen one yet), Polar Bear /3 (haven't seen one), and the Ty Cobb 1/1 to finish up.
