what is the untouchable part of your collection

For me it's my 2006 upper deck epic quad bat barrel consisting of babe Ruth, Jimmie foxx, mel ott, and Eddie Mathews. To me it's the single greatest memerobilia card ever made. The 2nd is a 2005 absolute memorabilia babe Ruth jumbo black jersey tag. A babe Ruth tag from a 1925 Yankee home jersey.

Damn , cuz if I were to ever strike it rich I was gonna come asking on the Quad Barrel. Love that card.

The "Murray Strip" was my White Whale since about 1988. The story that the shop owner told was; he was given the three card strip as an old school "promo." I guess that these were cut like this so they could not be easily resold. In the 80s we talked about the card being cut from the strip since centered examples are hard to find. Today only 500 PSA9s and 11 PSA10 exist (the last 10 sold for just over $10K).
Despite never playing for the Cardinals, Murray had been one of my favorite players. I had always wanted this item but could never swing the cash. After I left for the Army my brother Pete [MENTION=8688]U L Washington Rookie[/MENTION] purchased the strip and in his collection it sat until recently. Over the holidays he dropped it in my lap and said it was now mine. I have a LOT of cool cards but this card nearly takes me to the origins of my collecting days.

Awesome story George and great that Pete gave it to you. Makes perfect sense why it isn't leaving.

It is absolutely amazing if you stop and think about it. Upper deck had the vision to put the first 3 members of the 500 home run club on one card. Plus a Mathews. Yeah probably used those bats over several years and it all culminated with one epic card.

mrdallas, I dabble in light GI Joe collecting if I can find complete figures to fill holes in the collection I've been slowly working on. I'm only interested in pre '87 and the '88/'89 night force figures. If you decide to part with anything and you have complete figures, keep me in mind.

I will keep you in mind, Almost all if not all of my GI Joe stuff is pre 87 and in excellent condition, I was born in 76 so the GI Joe and transformer stuff was the it stuff for me. I did have to fix the 0-rings on many of the figures though because as you are aware of I am sure those things just deteriorate horribly. Ill take a photo tonight and post of picture of that 80's greatness!!!!

That is one of the most ridiculously awesome pieces I have ever seen. Thanks for sharing that one. WOW

I consider anything in my Thomas collection permanent, the few times I've gotten rid of Thomas items I had only one of, it was in trade for Thomas items that went to furthering my collection. That said, I've turned down crazy numbers for the following cards, and would probably turn down extra crazy numbers too. I think these three cards really define who I am as a collector.

While there are countless other cards and pieces of memorabilia that would require insane figures to part with, these three really make me smile.

The Jose Canseco game used fielding glove inked up like crazy with several stats that he traded with me. Sure, it is great enough that it is a gamer, but the fact that he traded gloves with me is what makes it even more awesome

I appreciate your predicament. It was my dream card as a kid. When it popped up 20 years later (having just been ripped from a case), I couldn't hit the BIN fast enough. True needle in a haystack. Absolute favorite post-1990 card.

Some of the most enjoyment I get from my collection is when I look through something that I have not seen in a while and it all holds a special place in my mind. I have not been one to get rid of anything for the most part, but if money talked, I would probably ultimately sell just about anything.

As a whole collection, many of my more obscure Garvey items are currently "untouchable", but if I ever started the selling process and sold of a rare item, then they'd all be fair game. I also can't see getting rid of any of my great autographed cards, vintage/oddball Dodgers, etc, etc, etc!

I think my family is screwed!!
