Shortstop seems to be one of the more prolific positions on the field, player wise, and now that Jeter is on the downside of his career nearing retirement in the next few years, I thought this might be good discussion.
Who would be your choice for the best shortstop baseball has ever seen?
Jeter: .312/256/1261/.828ops - (still playing, but his accoldades are well known)
Wagner: .328/101/1733/.858ops - 3x MVP, inaugural Hall of Fame member
Ripken: .276/431/1695/.788ops - 2x MVP, 2x All Star MVP, 18x All Star, 2x Gold Glove, career 77.2 war (42nd overall)
Banks: .274/512/1636/.830ops - 2x MVP, 12x All Star 67.6 war (117th overall)
