I know that the economy is down and that prospect prices are WAY DOWN. With that being said, has there been a better time in the last 10 years to buy prospects?

I have been looking to sell off some of my collection due to things piling up in my life. But with prices as LOW as they are, are you stocking up?

I have been watching a couple of gold refractor autographs from 2008 and have been astonished at how they are dropping like a rock. One of my guys has been getting about $100 per, now you can get them around $50. All just in the last 2-3 weeks.

SO, are you selling? Buying? Or STOCKING up?

I would like to sell some stuff to help pay some bills but most of my stuff is way too under valued at the moment.

I am with you 100%. It is pretty frustrating actually.

I keep looking at guys like Moustakas and it blows my mind how cheap they are.....

Whose to say that prices will ever go up? THere's a very short period to sell hot prospects. If you miss that period, you're stuck. The economy may not bounce back in time.

This isn't the stock market we're talking about.

Good point Jeff. There isn't guarantees for much in life. As normal though, if you are buying the right players, prices should bounce back.

But if you're talking about good prospects (not ones that are hot, but closer to solid investments), prices should go up when people have more cash to spend.

I haven't been selling, and I don't have the free cash to buy too much, but what I have picked up has seemed to me to be pretty low.

Right now is the time to buy and come following months after postseason is over even better. I'll be buying after I am done with my two (2) weeks vacation. So, after 12/15/2008. I need more Fmarts! Plus the economy will be back to normal since the $700 billion bailout was recently passed.

I'm guessing it will take slightly longer than 8 weeks to "be back to normal", but at least the bleeding might stop.

I have saved up a little for me to splurge this weekend, so I'm going after my guy. Already got a Gold Ref + 13 chromes.

I'm a little nervous that cards are currently so low, and I do think the economy plays a big role in this. At the same time, football is selling real high right now, so I think baseball will soar back up come Spring Training hype.

Exactly my thoughts.

I'm currently in between buying moderately and stocking up, although I'm not as sure as I once was.

As I've seen the kids do, +1.

The $700B bailout is may very well cause more harm than good.

in december of 09 we will still be talking about the economy being down. the socialist bailout only covers ups glaring cracks in our economic structure and was passed so investors abroad could gain confiedence in our market and wont cash in. its like putting a band aid on a chainsaw wound to the neck. you better get some medical attention cause that band aid wont last long.

i dont think the card market is down due to the economy, the economy has been off for sometime now. i think its more of a reflection of the minor league season ending, the pro season winding down and football being king of the block now. i think you will see a spike in the fall ball league players, rookies on playoff teams and those established guys knocking the cover off of the ball in the playoffs but next spring will return the love and prices should rebound based on hype.

i would love to sell all of my prospect stuff since its lost much of its luster. pre 06 was fantastic because you had 1 rookie card year. now its much less organized and i am sick of pulling the same dudes "prospect" card year after year or 3x from different series in the same product. i would like to go back solely to breaking wax and building sets with very little selling and much much more collecting.
