It pains me to write this as a Rangers fan, but Texas is without a doubt baseball's worst franchise since they began in 1972.

Texas has made the playoffs only 3 times in their 37-year history (1996, '98 & '99).
They've never made it past the first round of the playoffs.
The team is 1–9 in individual playoff games.

The Mariners were once thought of (before the mid-'90s) as the worst team, but they went to two AL Championship Series and set the record for most wins in a season in '01.

Even recent expansion teams have done better:

Colorado made the World Series in '07.
Tampa Bay made the World Series in '08.
Arizona won the World Series in '01.
Florida won the World Series in '97 & '03

Can anyone think of a team that is worse (in their overall history) than the Rangers?

The Mariners tied the single season win record, not a big deal just saying.

Technically its the Phillies...most loses as a team in Major League history but thats what happens when your around for over 100 years.

The Rays and their icky .417 W%
Any team that makes it to or wins the World Series is disqualified.
The Rangers never made it out of the first round of the playoffs.

And now that I think about it, Washington Nationals/Montreal Expos may be worse than the Rangers.
