So I had my Strasburg autograph on eBay for a couple days at $399 BIN/BO and received a few offers from $200-300.

But after seeing some of the grades of nicer versions of these cards, I pulled it and submitted it for a 2-day grade. All told the grading and shipping totals came to $73 and change but I figured it had a solid shot at a 9.5.

Just called up to see if the card would ship today, but it will ship on Tuesday, but I know what's inside...

2010 Bowman BP1b Stephen Strasburg (AU) BGS 9.5 with a 10 autograph.

Stoked.

I'm curious to see the sub grades, I assumed it would be 9.5s for surface, corners and edges with a 9 for centering, but I've seen worse centering on these get a 9.5 so who knows.

Either way, it was a good $70+ investment.

I don't understand the huge premium for 9.5's, personally. From what I've observed, these cards are not especially tough to grade gem.

I was getting ready to post the exact same thing. If someone had a couple grand lying around, it would probably be worth it to buy a few and have them slabbed.

Gold labels make people feel all warm and fuzzy.

Gold means treasure, which make people hypnotized.

...or, people just fit the typical American way. Impatient and always wanting more/better.

The subs just popped online...

centering: 10
corners: 9.5
edges: 9.0
surface: 9.5

Weird, but do remember a bit of O-Pee-Chee-like chopping on the edges.

In regards to the premium on 9.5s, there's still a premium (albeit slight) on Bowman Sterling cards. And regardless, a 2:1 premium for a 9.5 is reasonable compared to a lot of others.

At this point, 9 Strasburg base autographs have been graded...9 BGS 9.5s.

Seeing that kind of sale almost makes me want to purchase a case in hopes of pulling one that would grade well. That is insane for a base auto! You could easily make your money back on a case when you get that kind of coin in return.

that's awesome. how much do you think it will fetch now? Around 500 ish?

I'm going to guess higher than that. We are seeing raw copies go over $400 now.

Plus, this sold....

http://cgi.ebay.com/2010-Bowman-Stephen ... 4aa18fd960

Probably more like $800+ at this point.

Keep in mind that there are only 776 signed Strasburgs available in 2010 Bowman, the chances of hitting one isn't good at all.

500 base, 225 blue and 1 red.

Correction - 250 blues and 25 oranges.

Wait, you mean 500+225+1 doesn't equal 776?

Thank you for the correction JP...right as usual.

Nonetheless, 776 total autographs is still a tough, tough pull.

Don't forget the many that people have TRIED to RCR, along with MANY MANY MANY graders send their cards in with a 9.5 grade minimum, so those that don't make it, don't get slabbed, or make the population report.
