He was only open through today, so I stopped in to see what he had. I got a couple cool things...

1995 Donruss Studio Gold Barry Bonds and Greg Maddux credit cards.

I also bought a pack of 97-98 Metal Universe basketball and pulled a Rodman Hardware (1:360)

BUT, I also saw how bad the situation is... He has some REALLY high prices. It is almost scary (he had some 90 Score hockey for $14... highest priced box at the show was $10...). He did have much more selection, and he even had 2 Bill Ripken black boxes. He "priced" his collection via ebay minus shipping. Things were still too high... I think he was looking at BIN and high auction prices w/no bids...

ANYWAY, I got word of an ACTUAL LCS opening up. Lately, especially because of him, a few collectors are coming out. They are going to open up a real LCS (new products, singles, etc, along with some of his older inventory). There is some chat going around about an actual show too coming to the town over (about 10 miles away at the casino). It was good to hear that even though his place wasn't the best, that it brought the town's collectors together, and an LCS is in the works.

Sounds cool. I think the only way to succeed these days is to make it a real social place. Make it a place where people are coming by and meeting, maybe the guys gathering on a Sunday to watch the game and the like. Trade nights, pack wars, free food or whatever he can do to make it a fun place. Get free stuff for the kids (maybe free packs for good report card grades.) Make it a fun place to come and people will open the packs.

Exactly. Hopefully I can nab a job there... I know I said this one, but he was only open for 4 hours a week, and he was only open for a couple months. This one is an everyday deal... only in the afternoon/night, but it is the real deal.

I didn't think this shop was going to work out, but he did have some decent singles from Day 1, and brought more stuff in. I remember there was a local guy in there after (or maybe before) Randy Moss came back to MN, and bought most of the Moss stuff. He also says that he was getting some decent business.

I guess I got ahead of myself, it's 2 guys with a vision, but it sounds like they are making a push to get it done after Christmas sometime.
