I think the popular ones are:
- I only open wax with my wife/kid
- i open packs in my car
- i look for boxes with upside down labels or cool serial numbering

mine is:
- i like the wax to "age" a little.
I hate opening wax when it's brand-new.
I'll even bring it home & let it sit on the shelf a few days before opening.
... i know = stupid.
It really comes from the idea that I'd rather open a box when i have time to enjoy it instead of "rushing it."

I knew one dude who opens a whole box without looking at a card;
then looks through the whole stack once the packs are opened.

I used to never take the first pack when buying retail. Same with when I would buy single hobby packs.

When opening a box, I would never use a scissors, unless I absolutely had too.

I usually open packs in the car.... or outside if I can

No matter where I buy loose packs, Target or the shop the packs must be from the bottom of the box.
Always buy packs in even numbers, I hate odd numbers.
If I can have my choice at the shop of a box to open out of the case I pick the very last one on the bottom.

I almost always open only one pack a day when I break a box. Keeps me from impulse spending on more wax while keeping the suspense over a longer period of time.

Kind of weird, I know, but I've been doing it for probably 4 years now.

I also always keep an unopened pack from each box and just leave it unopened.

As of now, I believe I have 16 different packs from different products from 2001-2010. I could get a list if anyone's interested.

This will sound a little crazy, but I used to always listen to The Prince of Egypt soundtrack (a great movie BTW) when opening boxes.

When I opened my one and only box of 2008 Draft and pulled a Heyward Aflac the soundtrack was on in the background so I stuck with it.

It worked fine until I hit 2010 Ginter. That ruined everything...
