Is Bigboy > Mr. Mint now as the hobby's most infamous character? This is the third thread across three different boards I have read just this month.

This has been a fascinating and informative read. I see this two ways. Case 1: The circumstantial evidence is overwhelming and BigBoyd is a schiller. Case 2: Many of you are shocked that there are other people in the world (population: 7 billion+) who might be interested in the same card and even be willing to pay more than you to own that card. Is it really inconceivable that *gasp* someone out there might even be a more dedicated player collector than you?

According to my eBay log, I have made three purchases from BigBoyd (two in '08, one in '11). Two sold for an average price and the third for significantly less than the going rate. Three smooth transactions.

I hope that others will chime in on their interactions with BigBoyd. How many of the accusers have actually bought something from him? Of course, I could be completely off in the deep end. I purchased the card below from Wolverine24 for $163. I had no problem with the transaction and he still shipped it to me even though he was removed from eBay a day or two after I made the purchase.

I wasn't going to reply tonight as I thought the thread surpassed its point.... But... Had to jump in here. First off has zero to do with "people" thinking no one could ever pay more for a card than me. So not sure where that tanget came from. Second, and back to my original post, this thread was me just pointing out irregular activity with a Belle auction I was watching (I watch nearly them all) and questioning the high bidder and auction style. Which if you've actually read all of this or even just my initial thread post, thought it was odd... Do I need to rehash the 30 day stats, etc? Do you think that's normal activity for the billions of people in this country. Just log into eBay and bid on 1300 auctions of one sole eBay seller every 30 days lol? Could care less about anyThing else on eBay but what this one seller has?

Anyways, don't care any longer. This post BY ME was just questioning what I was seeing and BOOM all this comes out and there is a lot more to the name. For all I knew this was a one off instance and my sole thread would be dead with a post or two (like they all have been in the past) but NO this is obviously something mentioned on multiple boards and even other blogs and sites lol.... Sorry but I'm just watching my small observation turn into so much more and IM SURE it's all just a misunderstanding right?

It's not a misunderstanding. It is what it is. The guy has high bid activity on our auctions, been like that for a year. I'll say it again, if you want to know his intentions - email him. I can't answer that question. It looks like he has 43 Albert Belle cards on COMC, maybe you should do some business with him and get to know him..

You know this is a near impossible argument to win right? It really does not matter what evidence you produce, the lynch mob has found you guilty and will e-tar and e-feather you. It's a cruel cruel interwebs.

You may be guilty, you may be innocent. At this point the truth is overshadowed by perception.

I have one comment to make and i am not accusing anyone of anything. I just find it really strange that the account accused of shilling (swag whatever, I'm on my phone and not going back to look) has that high of a buying activity with one seller. If I am buying/bidding on that many cards from one seller chances are there is at least twice as much crap on the rest of eBay that I would be bidding on.

yeah that is very weird, even if you are innocent bigboyd you have to admit it is very strange that 1 person is bidding (on average) on about 45 of your auctions per day.

I never said it wasn't weird. The only explanation I could think of was that he was using another name to bid on other items. We have done this plenty of times to maximize ebay bucks. Like I've stated, I don't know his intentions. I just know he's a good customer.

I heard from a very credible source years ago that BB3/Wolverine24 were involved together in business from (gogameface/d jackson) who is from Ohio and used to be all over the BMB as well as SCF and such. He told me that he was wanted by this group of guys to jump in on this shill bidding ring and such. Told me they had a backroom full of computers and all the high tech stuff to shill bid. Feel free to find this user on any message boards and ask him or email [email protected] personally

My mind was made up about this seller YEARS ago. I wouldn't buy from him with your money.

I don't know who that is, but as I will repeat that is a complete lie. I find it laughable really, it's just amazing all the misconceptions and false accusations that float around.

Purchased from BB before, no issues. Not sure what more people can ask for. He's posted ebay ids and a screenshot from paypal. Yeah there are questionable listing practices(misleading titles and made up book values), but you have to be really dumb to fall for that. How many here have posted about breaking slabs because their grades sucked and could get more "raw"(or done that without posting about it)?

And about one buyer purchasing mostly from him? And who's reselling? Why purchase single items from different sellers when you can get quantity and variety from one seller?

I recently bought from bigboydsports card and the sale went perfectly. I really haven't looked at a lot of past sales and potential shill bidding accounts, but I know that in my one experience with them I was not shilled.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/SAMMY-SOSA-...0694841748?pt=US_Baseball&hash=item43aec34594

This was a card for me that I didn't snipe. If I really really really want a card, I always set up a snipe. For many auctions though, I'll bid and walk away expecting to not win the card. I'll bid something, usually less than what I think it'll go for, just thinking, "I probably won't win it for that, but if I do, then great!" That being said, my final bid went in long before the auction ended. I actually won the card and was surprised as I feel that I got a good deal.

I know my one example isn't proof of not shilling other auctions, but it's at least a drop in the bucket for good seller. For all I know bigboyd could still be shilling other stuff, but I personally would have no problem buying from them at this point.

In a world where we sue for anything and everything would anyone be willing to take this guy to court? Would seem with so much evidence someone would have tried it by now. At least small claims court.
