Listened to it already. It was pretty awesome seeing as I dislike both.

I understand what he was trying to do, and I do agree with Stern that it was poor journalism to ask the question. What answer does he expect to get when he asks "was it rigged." He could have asked what his reaction was to everyone assuming it was rigged and I'm sure it wouldn't have had so much animosity.

I thought that Rome asked the question quite well. He tried to avoid being accusatory, even going as far as saying that he didn't believe it was rigged.

Stern went on later in the interview attacking Rome's career. Rome acted rational throughout the interview, while Stern was far from it. "Why don't you hang up on me?"

Could there be two more polarizing people having that discussion? Can't believe the commissioner would stoop to that level. The easy answer for Stern would have been "no". End of discussion.

But he just straight up asked "was it rigged?" He plays it off as him being a great journalist and asking direct questions. I guess I just don't see anything good coming out of that question. Is Stern going to say, "You know what, you got me. It's rigged."? No, the only thing that can happen is him saying no, or getting angry like he did.

Stern should have reacted better, and it's surprising knowing how calculated he always is with his responses. He's definitely in legacy mode now that he's reaching the end of his career, and is probably fed up with all the rumors of him fixing the league.

Fixed it for you.

What level? Showing Rome that by asking his question there was no 'good' way for Stern to answer it? Nothing wrong with using the old "have you stopped beating your wife?" trick.

Yea, I learned about that after I heard it. I assumed he was just commenting on how even if there is no evidence of something happening the media can make it a story just by talking about something or asking a question like that. I didn't realize it was an common response indicating either answer is bad.

Both of them are arrogant *****. They love the banter.

Fortunately for me I listen to Jim Rome as much as I watch basketball...which is basically if I fell asleep and then it comes on.
