How awesome would that be? Besides the fact that he is a Met. What a great story that would be.

He'd have to beat out Gio, Kershaw, Strasburg, etc.....quite the longshot but he is having an incredible season so far.

Has to be the front runner at the moment, but without the track record I think people will take a wait and see attitude.

Knuckle ball pitchers are historically Streaky and often have entire Months of being "off", ruining their season's stats...

Cain..... tonight 14 Ks, 0 BB, 0 HITS through 8 Innings, ....will shrink than MLB leading WHIP even more.

Yes Frank, but you can't give a pitcher the Cy Young for one night of work. We'll see if the Giants can give Cain enough run support this year to be a contender for the award.

Valid point, but I do think Dickey is completely a different knuckerballer than we've ever seen. I mean he throws it over 80 MPH and his fastball is in the mid to high 80's.

Dickey has 10 different knucleballs. Each goes a different way. He changes them up like regular pitches.
Read sometthing like he threw 110 pitches and 106 were knuckles. Crazy

Seems like he got his dirty laundry of his chest and has been great ever since. GOOD for him!

I think that would be great and if he can repeat throughout the rest of the season what he has done so far, he will be in the discussion for CY.

Yeah that's all I was alluding too was his story and how he's a frontrunner at this point in the season. I mean the guy was born without the ligament they replace on TJ surgery. He stinks it up in the minors, toys with a knuckleball, gets absolutely demolished with his knuckleball for several years (anyone remember that game vs Detroit where he gave up like 23 home runs including 2 to Chris Shelton - yeah you have R.A. Dickey to thank for selling your Chris Shelton cards), bounces from team to team until he's in his late 30's and now is going to be an All-Star and a possible Cy Young candidate.

True, but Cain leads the MLB with a 0.85 WHIP and at the end of the year a PERFECT GAME will give Cain a huge edge in the voting.

He also has an 8-2 record this year with a 2.18 ERA and a 0.85 WHIP and 96 SO's so far. If he keeps that up, I think he'll be in the running for Cy Young this year.

Yea...and look who's number 2 with 0.94. Between Dickey and Cain their numbers almost have no statistically significant difference. The only difference at this point is one has a Perfect Game and one has a contested No Hitter.

Outside of how they finish the year I think Dickey's other obstacle could be Johan Santana. While his 3-3 record isn't going to draw any notice the fact that he did throw the first NYM no hitter in history (and East Coast records are more important than anyone else's apparently) he might draw a vote or two away from Dickey depending on how he finishes.
