Yes I am sure 2 hours of hitting undues 20+ years of training for these guys.
Look at Rickie Weeks for example, compare his stats his entire career or better yet just the first half and then compare to his second half along with this year. I did not say EVERYONE, ****** comment I might add, but to get the swing back for some of these guys takes a bit. Look at David Ortiz.

The reason people want Harper in the HR Derby isn't because of any stat line, it's because he has as much raw power as anyone in the game and is one of the up and coming faces in the game. Baseball would do well to showcase its stars.

Honestly, Mike Stanton is pretty much in a class by himself. And I'd much rather see Justin Upton than Bryce Harper.

Whether Harper deserves to be in it or not is irrelevant....MLB needs him to be in it.
Both Cano and Kemp were quoted that Eithier and Granderson were their first picks....yawn.

You can find a lot of scouts who would argue that Harper's power is equal to, or even greater than Stanton's. He's certainly not a class above.

I guess Jim Callis does, for one. But I haven't seen anyone else break the scoreboard at Marlins Park. I can't even find someone who has hit 2 450-foot HRs this year, and Stanton has hit 3 over 455 feet.

Last year, Stanton hit HRs of 417 feet on average. Kemp and Uggla were 2nd and 3rd on that list, at 412 feet. Fielder 409 feet. Bautista 406 feet. Pujols 403 feet. I guess it depends on how you identify "class" and "power", but you'd have to do a pretty good job of convincing me that those stats don't elevate Stanton over the rest of the league.

This week's Sports Illustrated will give you more names of people who will testify to the power of Stanton if you still doubt it.

**Actually, I was wrong - that was just the averages for the top 15 HR hitters last year. My other pick - Justin Upton - actually led everyone at 423 feet.

I'm hardly taking a shot at Stanton by saying that Harper's raw power is comparable.

And I'm hardly taking a shot at Harper by saying his power is not quite the power of Stanton. But I don't think he has as much as Stanton, which is what you said the first time.

Arguing over Hitting Power is a moot point:
Christian Okoye's 88 > Stanton and Harper's 80
