Ryan Howard makes 20 million per year because men, boys, and children are willing to pay to watch him play and care enough to stand outside in the heat to get items signed. There's a balance here where players should be willing signers while fans should leave these guys alone when they are away from the park and spending time with family and friends.

It's not for the shy timid folk, because they tend to respect a person for asking to be left alone in a nice manner. Yeah, he's a real ******* for telling you guys he's there to work. Yes, he gets millions - it's his job.

There's two types of people. Those that get autos, and those who can't . The ones who can't spend an awful lot of time griping about those who can. Or should I say , those who will.

As far as the kids go, it's a damn shame, but it's not like it's the ops fault. If these athletes are dumb enough to believe everyone is going to sell the auto and that's why they won't sign, that's their problem.

I don't understand. Im sure both the kids ended up with an autograph. Because even if he signed for the same kid couldn't that kid just give his 2nd autograph to the other kid. This is coming from a kid who collects autographs. To the OP- I love reading your threads.

The more I read these kinds of posts from the OP the more I understand why his "friend" would steal from him. Not just the fact he got an IP auto... but just the way he complained about Ry not signing ... and begging him. Something just rubs me the wrong way.

He comes off as someone who flaunts his collection ... constantly showing off new high priced items. And if you do that over and over to someone with less money they get jealous and figure you wont miss this or that.

Kinda like.... the guy just comes over to hang out... drink a beer... and you go get your new item and show him.

Again... this is just how these posts come off to me. Complains someone wont sign... and tries to rationalize his reactions when they wont.

I understand you really wanted his autograph on your jersey but were you really calling him Ry?

always cool seeing Big Mac in person autos. Looks like all autos turned out great. I know sometimes Howard in person stuff looks like crap and he signs in bad spots on purpose.

yeaaaa. so because i acquire
high priced stuff , you see why my friend who lost his marriage
, job and career because of a crippling pain pill addiction would steal from me???

i dont flaunt anything buddy.
I post stuff that i acquire, how is that flaunting??
Thank god you dont read the posts on
sportsgraphing. Youd run for the hills.
But you do make a great observation.

Me acquiring high priced stuff means i flaunt it
hence you see why my pill addicted ex friend
would steal my cards and sell them to buy drugs.

i bet you were at the top
of your class.

Congrats to the OP on all of the autos. Hate to say I saw this thread coming as soon as I read the OP too. Also, as someone who is in his 20s, loves to get IP autos when I can, and has never sold a single autograph I have ever got, please don't group every person who gets IP autos in to one group that gets autographs just to try and sell them on ebay. Hell, I am not attacking anyone but if I put every single autograph I have on ebay (which 95% are cards), I would imagine everyone on here, blowout, and anywhere else would say they are fake. Jersey aside, if the OP put either of the cards he got signed on ebay he would probably sell them for less than $10.

/Rant over

The thread I remember didn't mention that. I did go back a little further and saw the drug part... but it didn't mention lost marriage or job.

That's why I said it was the way I read it. You do come off a little extreme in ur responses sometimes. So its not like I read one topic and came to that conclusion.

Philly: Take the autographs out of the equation - how close do some of his encounters resemble stalking? Just wondering. I don't follow Big Mac much.

yes im greedy. yes i wanted my jersey signed regardless. If that makes me a stalker
then so be it. but people wait all the time at the stadium.
so everyone that waits at the players entrance for auto's is
a stalker?? i couldnt try at the game cause i had work.

some people put more effort and time and unconventional ways
into getting free autographs then others. Extreme, stalker, etc,
what is so frowned upon about waiting at the stadium and
being more persistent then the quiet person that just stands there??

Thats fine. All my friends and people that know me think im crazy.
And im sure many on here feel the same way. Thats fine. Life is too
short to blend in. I am obsessed with this hobby. Getting free autographs
is a dirty game. My methods are mild compared to people
i have met who crash fundraisers, go to airports , follow to
restaurants etc. I do things that the non collector and the recreational collector
might find extreme or stalkerish. But alot of the time thats what gets the job done.
Ive had too many disapointing car ride homes to know that you need to be
extreme and unconventional.
Ask the 16 year old kid behind me if he had a problem with me breaking down
"Ry". The kid was the quiet type and his quiet demeanor would not have gotten howard
to stop. if you want a silver lining , me being extreme got a passive quiet kid an auto from a guy who
otherwise wouldn't have stopped. I dont flaunt things,
if thats how i come off then im sorry. I dont get thrills bigger then
getting cards or autos besides seeing bruce springsteen live. You get what you put into when
getting IP auto's and some successful methods arent for everyone obviously.

I have no idea why men act like little girls on this site and cry about spelling, capitalization, why this, why that, come on people. We all have jobs (most of us), run companies, departments, etc. and then people act like this is their "side job" of being on this site getting all worked up over an autograph, a "steal", or a bad trade, etc. Don't you people have chicks and wives? Grow up and worry about what is going on in our country and how bad it is getting, the fires of Colorado, or the Hurricanes in Florida on how we can come together during these times.

I would assume the same reason you just cried about them. Because they can.

It looks like both 5 year olds got their autographs...no need to cry about them being screwed or anything.

However, if this was a 'brag post,' by someone other than FCB's resident autograph hound, he'd be slammed and called much worse.

As is, good job getting these players to sign.
