I also believe it is historic. A sure fire HOFer spending his entire career with one organization moved to the Yankees before the deadline. Have to look past this seasons stats, the guy has averaged 220+ hits throughout his 12 year career for one team and is being moved.

Am I the only one that thinks Ichiros game will suddenly get better.

I don't think it will. He's a slap hitter so park factor isn't going to be a big deal. His career splits kind of show that as there is little statistical difference between home and away. He might get a few more home runs in Yankee Stadium, but overall I think we'll get the same thing we already had.

The part that will sting the most will be if he gets his 3000th hit in pinstripes....

But thats kinda my point! 4 years ago he was a .352 hitter, he is hitting what, .260 this year? It's gone down every year in the past 5 years.

Sure Ichiro was/is a great player, but the Yankees are not getting the Ichiro of 4-5 years ago.

But putting him in a Yankee lineup now will just make him a better hitter, also when he gets on base, (if/when batting 1st), will make Jeter, Granderson & Arod better hitters....
Just like Henderson and Mattingly, Winfield & Baylor

well let me bring you all back down to this planet.
Stupid move, ichiro is a joke and will suck on the yanks.
if it wasn't for the infield hits he beats out, he'd hit 220.
i already miss nick swisher and i hate him.

I wasn't aware the Yankees didn't have an infield.

So you're saying, if it wasn't for all the hits he's had, he wouldn't have that many hits?

Stupid move? It cost two minor league pitchers that would not have an impact on this team, D Wise (DFAd, and who I did like) and only paying him 2.25 mil the rest of the season. Who knows what being in a race will do for his game? They needed someone to fill Gardners shoes and got it and it didn't cost that much.

How about the fact, if he re-signs there, the '13 Yanks would have two guys with 3,000 hits, still everyday Players, and probably in '14 too?

Palmiero eked over the 3,000 hits mark w/ Ripken together (20 more), but I think it's significant that there are two guys with so many hits (7,000+) on the same sqaud. Heck, they both at least have a shot at Rose's record. I don't think they will, but the argument could be made. And yes, both are on the other side of the hill and especially Ichiro has declined, but still a pretty big deal to me...

Also, don't be surprised to see Ichiro's HR total skyrocket with the way the ball carries to Right-center there.

Standing ovation by the Seattle fans, a bow by Ichiro, and a base hit up the middle in his 1st NYY AB

Just saw him for 1st at bat. Its so strange seeing him with grey spots in his hair.

Maybe thats why Jeter always rocks the shaved head.

Only have 1 Ichiro. Sent it in to signing he did with Mill Creek.

You can already anticipate the Steiner Ichiro peices being produced.
Can't wait to get emails from Steiner advertising GU Balls from his
Yankee debut for 499.99 with some cheap laser engraving
