The DH saga has finally come to a close.

Lakers to Acquire Dwight Howard

A four-team trade will land Dwight Howard in Los Angeles, ESPN reported Thursday night.

The multi-team deal was completed Thursday and will send Howard to the Lakers, Andrea Iguodala to the Denver Nuggets, Andrew Bynum and Jason Richardson to the 76ers and the Magic will get Arron Afflalo, Al Harrington, Nikola Vucevic and one protected future first-round pick from each of the other three teams.

The only way that trade was gonna be good is if Gasol stayed in LA. Can't wait for the season to start!

The GM for Orlando should be fired. Any time you can give up the best player in the deal and not even get the 2nd or 3rd best you just have to do it, i guess. I mean, they did get a lot of non lottery picks that they can use in a couple years. I really can't believe they took this pu pu platter over Lopez, Brooks, and 4 1sts from the Nets.

So much for competitive balance being the big issue with the newest CBA.

He apparently had more trade value than Howard, since the 76ers got the 2nd best player in the deal in return for Iggy.

No chance the Magic are getting a better haul with this deal than what the Rockets or Nets offered.

The only thing about the Nets deal is you take on an enormous contract with Lopez who might help you be good enough to stay in the mid lotto and be in relative purgatory in the NBA. Buy out Harrington and you have a moderately priced piece in Afflalo to start to build with. I don't think it was nearly the best they could have done (Houston's deal probably was), but I would prefer bottoming out as opposed to what the Nets deal would bring.

I don't know what the Magic were thinking. They must have truly wanted to get Dwight off the team; but, why not go with one of the better trade scenarios instead of getting what they did?

No matter which offer they would have taken (Houston's or Brooklyn's) they would have been just "good enough" and made the playoffs but not even come close to winning a championship and they would have been stuck just outside the lottery every year in the draft. With this deal they are going to be horrible and can start rebuilding though the high picks they will get in the lottery the next 2-3 years. Plus they have the 4 draft picks from this trade. This was a much better deal in terms of the future for the Magic.

The draft picks they're getting in this are crap. Protected picks from playoff teams that are 2-4 years away aren't going to do anything. I get it about bottoming out, but if they had held on to Howard they could have gotten a better offer in February, or let him walk. Either Howard decides he really isn't ready to give up $30 million dollars on his next contract and stays, they get a better trade, or they end up with the same XXXXty team and cap space. Granted, that cap space also isn't worth much because which free agents are going to want to sign there by themselves?

Even if they didn't like the Nets or Rockets deals, they should have held their ground with LA. LA was already giving up Bynum, so Orlando should have gotten him and made LA take Turkoglu's contract. That way they have a centerpiece to build around in Bynum, still aren't a great team with only Bynum (lottery pick), and then have cap space to bring in another max guy to play with Bynum.

See, I'm the exact opposite. I despise Steve Nash, but am a big Lakers/Kobe fan. Dwight Howard has been my 2nd favorite player ever since he came into the league. I'm so happy they can win a few titles together (hopefully).

My favorite player on the team I despise the most. Looks like I'm a Lakers fan for 2012-2013. Sigh.

You like players that will XXXX all over their teammates and act like they're more important than the team and dislike players that are selfless, loyal, and team oriented?

How can you despise Nash? I mean, I can see you not being a fan...but despise? That's twisted, lol.

Completely disagree.

Brook Lopez is not going to make Orlando a middle of the road team. They would have still been at the bottom of East for sure. Also, they would have gotten WAY better draft picks for the future out of the Brooklyn deal. This makes absolutely no sense for the Magic.
