From Atlanta Sports Cards

Dear Customer,

I finally heard back from Topps about Bowman Draft Jumbo. Unfortunately, they made me order 6 Hobby cases for every Jumbo case that I want. So, I can sell you as many Jumbo as you want, but I have to sell you 6 Hobby for every Jumbo case you want. I totally understand if you don't want any. Just let me know. If you don't want to do this, I can return your deposit ASAP. I apologize for this.

Thanks,
Josh

***What a shame. I am guessing they sold 100's of Jumbo cases that they are not honoring. Blowout came out and stated that they are still honoring all jumbo case sales.

They shouldn't list things for sale only to come back later and add stipulations to said sale. Not right.
Tell him to drop hobby to $55/box and I'll help out by buying one of those cases (maybe 2). Ha.

This won't be good for their long-term success if Blowout is honoring their purchases. In the future, unless if they're offering a severe discount, there would be no need to take the risk.

There is nothing they could do after they took that many orders.

I know Josh, and if he could honor them he would.

That's crap! In this business if you presell you come through. Even if you take the hit...

I like Josh as well, but he is no rookie. He should have known better, and assumed Topps would do this. They will lose a ton of customers over this, without question.

Not when the company saddles you with 6 cases of less-desireable product. I mean, c'mon. That's like saying they owe you a product even if Topps changes the production numbers. You basically want a small businessman to take a massive loss because of something he can't control. Guess what: if this crushes him and he has to close up shop, then no one gets anything.

I don't get it. I mean Topps could make this a non-issue if they just made the two cases the same value. Hobby exclusive wrapper redemptions, hobby exclusive auto checklist that isn't available in Jumbo etc...

Make it so buyers want both not just the Jumbos. I've never understood it.

Yeah, and these middle men make $50-$70 per jumbo box they sell. Shouldn't they have to work for it a little bit? They charge the consumer BIG BUCKS for those things. Maybe Topps should just sell the jumbos directly to the consumer.

Listen, don't go using that brain for great ideas. I mean you're talking crazy here. Trying to create bigger demand for lower demand products...how ridiculous.

The simple solution is stop making hobby and jumbo both and just do one or the other. no reason to do both. ive never liked the idea.

I agree with your idea that Topps should just offer hobby direct to the consumer.

But I can't get behind the logic that, because these guys make a good profit, that it's fine to be OK with them getting schwacked when Topps pulls the rug out from under them. I WANT these guys to make money so the hobby thrives. I don't see Blowout and Atlanta as the problem. I feel fine thinking that Josh takes his profits and turns it back into the hobby/business. I don't see him laughing all the way to the bank.

The simple solution was to not change anything.

Hobby Boxes and retail product.

Willie Mays, Griffey Jr. Aaron 2012 Chrome Autos Hobby Exclusive
Canary 1/1 Autos Hobby Exclusive
Die-Cut 1/1 On card Auto Hobby exclusive

Pretty simple things could be done to drive the demand of Hobby up.

Josh (Atalanta Sports Cards) is among the best - I have been nothing but happy since I switched to him some time ago. I am confident that if there were a way to make this work, he would do it. He is getting screwed by Topps and trying to be honest with his customers.

What do you think about the people that just ordered boxes and not cases? I ordered 3 boxes and have not received an email...

I actually prefer to buy from Josh as well. So I am not trying to trash him.

I also don't see this as a Topps issue. They have done this before with Bowman Jumbo, so this is NOT new. Also, I guarantee you that these same retailers will have jumbo cases in stock when they release, trust me. I will also guarantee the price will be higher than what they sold them previously for.
