How could Topps ruin this? If they issue a Topp Mini factory set around Christmas... would that kill potential future value?

What if they put out a Topps Update mini and 330 more golds are available.... would that help or hurt? Im thinking it would help cuz now the set collectors would have a 990 card gold set to complete.

I could see a Topps Update Mini being cool. I'm thinking it would help as long as it has the same small release. Though with half the set size it would have to be half the release size. Plus if they already included Harper, Darvish, and Trout, it's not going to have quite the same young star power.

I ordered and busted 3 cases of this...wondering if I should have kept them sealed after seeing all this chatter :)

How'd you do on the sale of your 3 cases worth? I'm still deciding what exactly to do with my 14+ cases.

Oh I wish they were sold! I'm still sorting scanning etc.

I got absolutely robbed on my player selection with the Platinums /5 but on the Golds /61 I hit Jeter x 2 (which sell very well), Mantle, Trout, Darvish and Harper - so i can't complain too much.

With a print-run of just over 2,500 on base cards, this is one of the lowest print-runs for a Topps base set ever. I can see this stuff being popular for a long time.

Agreed. Word just has to get out there. People are going to treat the minis like base topps until they realize how few there are.

this will find a nice niche of collectors.

its not all that surprising that the pack of rabid '75 mini collectors have been opening '12 Minis

also, the base set is a pain in the ass to put together

Why is it such a pain? Are some of the cards SPd? I have 4 boxes worth at home. Do you still need some cards to complete the set.

i think the case breakers can better answer the question.

no, there are no "SPs" per-se, just tough to build when there are ~225-ish base cards per wax box, 661 in the base set

I wish they would go back to releasing the regular set in one series. It really takes the fun out of it when you can make a set in one box. I miss the 792 card sets that were issued in one series.

Well, I was down for a couple of boxes at $50. I won't touch them any higher than that.

I felt strongly about the collectability and value and thought it was fair. Anything higher puts them at the hobby-box level and I would rather spend my money elsewhere.
