I think its creepy you called bgs about another persons submission.

I think its beyond deplorable that bgs actually discussed another customers habits and business with you on the phone.

I have nothing against Leaf, and think some of their cards are pretty cool.
My problem about this issue is that the card was made by Topps and sold by Leaf.

If Leaf would stop selling buyback products, BG's company wouldn't be accused of altering cards.

Leaf wants to be a legitimate company, but they sell products with Topps and Upper Deck cards in them.
Topps would never sell entire Leaf cards (excluding cuts from butchered cards).

I just think it's ridiculous that Leaf sells buybacks of other companies' products.
That just makes me think they're not different than TriStar or similar lesser companies.

Quick side note.... so someone erased the auto on this Harper card and then forged the exact same sig on the card? This doesn't make any sense to me

Many folks pay more for a bold auto than they do for a streaky, faded one.

Unfortunately, greed (1 of 7 “deadlys”, btw) runs rampant in this “hobby” and there are losers who will do this sort of thing just to try to get an extra buck from an unsuspecting buyer. IMO, it’s no different than removing a swatch or 1-color patch and replacing it with a fancy, schmancy one. Ignorant people will pay more for it.

Thanks for the overview... find it to be really really really stupid and pointless... but like you said, it's greed... someone literally erased a perfectly fine auto of a player to then just forge the exact same players auto on the exact same card but to have it be bolder to make a few bucks more... ::facepalm::

Gilmo needs to find out who started this thread with original title. Has to be someone using a second id? is that legal on FCB for someone to have two id's? Do some ip address research. Find out if it is someone using a second id because they didn't have the balls to do it with real id.
My exact thought.

With the quantity of cards BG has purchased and sold some things will slip through the cracks. Just like all of our collections. Props for destroying the card..

The hard lined stance you took on fakes and forgeries a few months ago is something that I find ironic here.

Only one question remains to me.. When are Mario and matchpenalty going to have a cage match to see who can nuzzle and bounce on leafs hairy bean bag more? Seriously you two seem more and more like bunny boilers as the days roll on.

Why not just remove the auto on there and pay someone to get Harper's autograph under witness of a leaf rep? It will still be Harper's signature on a authenticated card then.

I spelled "Alterior" as a pun, as in "altered" lol.

I'm discussing things with my rep at BGS, and apparently BG drops off boxes to them without filling in submission forms. And apparently BGS gives cards that don't make the grade back to BG without explaining why. So basically BG won't be able to prove that he submitted the card to BGS or not. So, unless BG produces the auction in which he purchased the card, complete with a photo of the bogus signature on it, it's his word against (most of) the world's.

A Leaf cert on a Topps card would be silly, IMO. What you suggest opens another can of worms that I wouldn’t be surprised to see however.

Morons removing a faded or streaky legitimate auto, then getting the player to sign it in-person.

I can see them on ebay already…why buy a “normal” Bowman Chrome auto when you can buy the only one in existence that’s signed in (red, gold, fucia, etc)??!! HOT!

I spoke with Warren (allstars) at the request of Brian. I can assure you that we do not discuss customer's accounts with anyone other than the customer themselves.

Thanks,

Notjomamma, as hard as it is to believe I've literally have only purchased one box from leaf. It was 2010 best of baseball and my card was a mike piazza fleer rookie. The reason why I get so worked up is I can't stand people who get what I call computer muscles. They hide behind their computer screens, making up lies about people, spreading false rumors and attacking someone. It especially pisses me off that they're doing it to an owner of a card company who actually cares about the hobby, is making the best products he can with the hand he is dealt, thanks to the exclusive mlb contract with topps, and is actually hands on with collectors. People are bashing him, accusing him of absolutely ridiculous things with absolutely no proof. I mean it's crazy that people get pissed off at him for trying to defend himself, his company and reputation. It's one thing to criticize a product, it's definitely another to say he is knowingly forging autos or knowingly selling forged autos.

So "apparently" you dont trust your "rep at BGS" as you used apparently twice when discussing them.

There are not any forms in bulk grading regarding why the card did not meet min grade.

Easy way out then Brian - Let's see the BGS forms & their reason for not giving the card a 9? Obviously you thought it would get the 9 if you (really) sent it to them....

Five guys on these boards can vouch for BG statement that there is no paperwork like you mention. I am one of them.

I'll consider my question answered when BGS confirms that you don't even fill out submission slips. Your "guys" confirm that they don't even read the reason a card submitted by your company didn't pass the grade. Is that how you run your company? "Guys, if BGS returns anything just dump it on Ebay. Don't worry about the reason." I don't buy that your entrusting BGS with thousands of your valuable cards without any record of what you gave them being recorded & submitted to them.
