"New material" isn't innovative. It's new material. And making a card a hologram "destroys the integrity" of the trading CARD, as I stated before. Face it, there is basically nowhere for cards to go that hasn't already been done. I'm fine with it. It is what it is. A card is a card and can't be anything more than a card. This innovation you keep speaking of isn't coming. It's all been done.

Well add to this thread with your opinion as to whether the card the OP brought up was sold too cheap or not & why
Just because it's from a tv show with questionable humor it's ok to make fun about :benson:
I lost family members during that period which you find humor

Really?
Really???

And yet dozens of card shops have and continue to close all around me. I've never sold a POG or Beanie Baby in my life. Like Gilmo says, mine must not be a "normal" situation. Is it beyond the realm of possibility that my customers might just believe in and appreciate my views on things like unlicensed cards & other things I don't feel belong in a good card shop? I don't have to sell everything to run a nice shop. In fact, I feel that the fact that I realized that decades ago might just be the reason I'm still here. Maybe, maybe not.
PS: Yes, I sell fishing tackle. Purely as a muse to my non-conflict-of-interest hobby, I assure you. You can't be a dealer and a collector in this business, not if you have mouths to feed.
it really could be any card that came out and sold below market
I think that some of the 2012 update jumbo patches are too cheap as well.
I'm unsure what you mean by "too cheap" Chris. My belief is that something is worth what someone is willing to pay for it. Do you view Brian's Pujols patch autos as good investments?
The Update patches are gorgeous & very well done. Is that enough to drive a market on a non-GU patch card? I have my doubts, but time will certainly tell.
Somehow I don't think we'll ever be kicking ourselves for not buying Leaf cards instead of Trout Bowman Chrome autos for our $k/2...
My belief is that something is worth what someone is willing to pay for it.
I am willing to pat $1.25 for the t206 Honus Wagner, therefore, it is worth $1.25.
In your feverish pitch to remain passively agressive, you overlooked the entire point of my post, did you even read it? In not, please do so now. I'll give you a second.........
Ok, now that we can all clearly see I said in a nutshell that although you may be ok not selling unlicensed stuff, "the real question(s) is one limiting their potential profits? Is one limiting the hobby to their customers?" The answer to both of these questions is obviously, and still undeniable yes. Any LCS could keep current and stay open using your model as long as they are handling the logistics corrently, this is not nor ever was the issue I presented. Are you losing potential sales? Are you limiting your customers? Are you making less than you could/should be? The quick answer is yes.
And the answer is no. I find it hard to believe ANY hobbiest would be appreciative for the fact you are curtailing their hobby expierence.
Mercedes dealerships don't sell Kias. If the curmudgeon doesn't want to sell Leaf products, that's up to him.
Mahoody, your avatar offends me. During the Crusades many of my ancestors were slain because of their non-belief. Could you please remove it?

Sometimes things listed at auction on ebay sell for lower than what they should or could sell for.
This is one of those cases. It could be poor timing in this case. The whole "what have you done for me lately" thing contributes to this and that people generally live in the moment instead of recognizing that for a solid decade he was the best hitter in baseball.
