Honestly, I think they are better off keeping him in case they pull of a miraculous run a la the Orioles last year. I don't think the return is going to be what the Mets are even thinking of.

Reports are he's looking for 4-5 year deal, and the Mets are think 2+ option. I can see a scenario where if the Angels don't resign Greinke, the Mets could try a Trumbo for Dickey deal...Just a thought

Lots of speculation since the D-backs are looking for 3B & SS help that Upton goes to Texas to replace Hamilton, in exchange for Andrus and then Profar slips into SS for texas.....So I don't see that happening

I cant see a team giving more than a 2 year deal with a club option for year 3 if they were to trade him and a team tries to work out an extension.

Even with how good he was last year, he is still 37 years old and a primary knuckleballer.

...so to answer the OP's question, I dont see them acquiring top prospects but probably a veteran and 2 mid-level prospects

I wonder if Boston would take a stab at him? I know there's rumors they may try to move Ellsbury, but not sure Dickey for Ellsbury would make sense. Maybe a package deal with Dickey and a couple of prospects?

If the Mets got offered Ellsbury, they should take it and run. Don't look back.

what about 8 years from now when Dickey is in his Phil Hiekro years and Ellsbury is in his Johnny Damon years ? Doesnt seem so absurd in that context.

Ellsbury at his best and healthy is a perennial MVP candidate - Damon was never an MVP candidate. And it's absurd to assume that Dickey will be playing in 8 years. So to make that trade on those assumptions would quickly lose your job as a GM.

Perenial MVP candidate? He had 1 year that was close to MVP calliber. Hes a good player, I wouldnt go that far though. And him staying healthy seems to big s big problem.

Perennial MVP candidate??? I don't agree with that. Very Good player, but had one great year, and seems to be a major health risk. Damon being shrugged off as not an MVP candidate is laughable because I would take Damon over Ellsbury in their prime anyday. Damon is arguably a fringe Hall of Famer. Ellsbury at this point in time might not be an all-time player for the Red Sox. I would think the dodgers make a major play for dickey.
