Rusty Greer - one of the best players never to be named to an All Star Team or win a Gold Glove

Lance Blankenship - he at least had some cool cards showing him leaping over a runner trying to break up a double play

David Hulse - at least I can always see him laughing at Jose Canseco after the ball went off his head each time MLB Network shows blooper shows.

Dewey (Evans) -- saw him throw a guy out at home on an attempted sac fly to right and he had one foot on the warning track at Fenway (wall is 380 ft from home)

Bobby Kielty - That man had quite the arm. I remember being at a game where he fielded one of the baggy and fired in into the infield. It was a tough play.

Doug Mientkiewicz - I know he's "well-known" for catching the final out in the 2004 World Series, but man that dude was a great first basemen. He used to do the splits at first to catch balls that were wild throws.

Jordan Smith (Indians) - He's a minor leaguer. He's not from California or Florida, so naturally nobody really cares about him, but his fielding skills are nuts. I watched him slide all over the outfield in a wood bat league a couple years ago. From what I saw, his bat wasn't THAT great, but I loved watching him play defensively.

Dougie was fun to watch but he was such a ****** I was never a fan.

I really enjoyed watching Lew Ford.

Dwight Evans because when I was young, he was the captain of the Sox.
Dave Stewart the intensity on the mound was scary.

I see alot of guys that were famous here......so here are the REAL not so famous list: #1 Phil Plantier- loved his batting stance and he would just explode out of his stance to hit bombs.......#2 Steve Jeltz- couldn't hit a lick but his range was amazing as SS......#3 Kevin Gross- He had great movement on his pitches. Was just a .500 pitcher but played on alot of bad Phillies teams.

I don't think some of you understand what the OP meant when he wrote, "3 players you loved watching who were not very famous in baseball."
That means they weren't very famous when they played.

Howard HoJo 30/30 Johnson was very famous.
Kenny Lofton was a superstar and his All-Star selections and high card prices in the mid '90s showed that.
Jim Abbott was famous and an inspiration.
Dave Stewart, with 4 straight 20-win seasons was a monster.
Dwight Evans was really famous.
And Bill Freehan was super popular, an 11-time All Star and the best catcher in the A.L. until Fisk surpassed him.

A lot of the players you list may not be popular now, but they sure were when they played, which is the point of this topic.
