Racist: a prejudiced belief that one race is superior to others.

Does the logo fit the definition above? I don't think so, but perhaps others could show how it does. In any event, it doesn't seem to be a baseball/baseball card topic to me.

So much PC bullshlt in this thread. Think for yourselves. Don't let "popular opinion" determine your beliefs. These logos, team names, and chants have nothing to do with racial superiority.

Really? Not the least bit racist?

Popular opinion tends to vehemently disagree. And this is what a 2 secong google search brought up about the logo referred to as "Screaming Savage" -- which is racist in and of itself.

Atlanta Braves put racist logo on batting practice caps

Braves' 'Screaming Indian' Logo To Appear On Batting Practice Hats: REPORT

MLB Allows Braves To Use Racist Logo - Business Insider

I dont see how popular opinion disagrees with the links you provided. Read the comments on the last link you gave. 90% of the comments are in favor of the logo and do not think it is racist.
What did you google to get these results? "Braves logo racist" or something along those terms?

The hat is not racist.
Also lPopular opinion in this thread tends to vehemently disagree with you and your link posts.

Read the articles Jeff and tell us just how many people in them are up in arms. Those are great attention grabbing titles if your search is "braves logo racist" or a media writer looking for attention for a story. Please read us the article that also turns up with a study that asked native americans if they found the logo racist and less than 10% did.

I didn't read the other 2 articles, but the comments in the first one seem to almost all disagree with the article. Do you also think the University of North Dakota were racist for their Fighting Sioux nickname and logo?

The removal of these team names and aspect of the game will remove traces of a significant part of American heritage. Baseball seems to be a perfect game to honor our American roots.

I went to FSU. The Seminole Tribe endorsed and welcomed our use of their traditions. I don't believe the Braves organization has reached out to any tribe.

How 'bout them Redskins?

The Assoc of American Anthropologist have done a mountain of research into this topic, which included surveys of native groups. The historic underpinnings to the assignment of mascots is of grave concern to most native groups.

George, you must be mistaken, there is no mention of batting practice caps???? I can understand the mascot argument 100%, but that's not what we're talking about.

Jeff, who exactly would you like them to reach out to?

Sorry, I should have been more specific......AAA focused on the use of mascots. The discussion had swung away from hats to racism.

I know George, I was kidding. When I go back to school I plan on talking to the counselor at our school to get his position. He is a high ranking elder of a tribe here locally. I'd like to hear his thoughts.

So that's why Scheel's has fitted batting practice caps on clearance for $12. I got a Twins one at Christmas. I like the design with the piping. The new design with the white front, eh, not so much. Coulda done like the Reds and Mets and put Minny and Paul on the cap.

I live in Oklahoma in the heart of Indian territory (don't call them Native Americans, most every one of the tribes around here want to be called Indians). Anyway, the most predominant caps and jerseys you see around here (besides the Yankees) are the Indians and the Braves (items with their mascots showing are very popular).

Oh no, you'd better not call them Indians, even if that's what they want to be called. These guys will have you pinned as making racist remarks. By all means, lets decide for them what they should be called, what they approve of or not, without so much as even asking them. Isn't that a bit insensitive in itself. C'mon guys...
