Howdy boys. Looking like my Super Bowl picks are shot. I had the Broncos and the Seahawks. ::facepalm::

Got our "new" furniture delivered today. My aunt is one of those people that needs new furniture every year or two, so they decided to just give us their old stuff...I wasn't complaining. lol.

Now to try and fix the leaking pipe in the laundry room...

In case you haven't done so already, checking out the Joe Schmo Show (on Spike TV) should be worth your time. It's a fake reality show where all involved but one guy are 'in' on it. They did a very good job with two prior versions about 10 years ago (Kristen Wiig got her career going on the first) and I have high hopes for this version.

I watched both episodes the other night. Definitely got a kick out of it. Lamas was pretty funny.

My cousin was on the first one. Lance Krall. Also had a show on VH1 four or five years ago too.

Refuse to give them my money.

If it's such a great site, they should be able to generate more than enough revenue without charging fees.

This was done so that members, are the ones making the decsion who is on the site. And not have the service providers paying to be on the site, thus influencing who is, higher on the service (to you) food chain.
I get the business model of the, site. It is not for me.....and it seems it is not for you either
And Charlie just like anything else in this country you have that right to choose, and not pay for something you may not need. Well most of tte time anyway.

What issues does stabbing cause? Every receptacle I switched out today, was stabbed. Was a massive PITA!

Stabbing the wires is not a solid connection. It creates heat, which could cause problems such as burning the outlet out. You could also lose the common, and you could possibly have a back feed also.

I once took a job in the Chicago area in which the contractor stabbed all the devices in the model of a condo project. The inspector red tagged the job, I had to go back and re-wire all the devices that were stabbed by shop regular's. It's just one of my pet peeves, I also did service work, and usually this was the problem I encountered when looking for short circuits, or no power.

And as you stated, it was a massive PITA. It's a lot easier to stab than wrap the wire around the screw, but this takes longer. Contractor's don't give a sh!t after the home warranty runs out after a year, just get it done as fast as you can. It's a horsesh!t installation. Quantity over quality.

These were a lot of the issues we were having. Plugs burning out and shooting out.

Steve, in 30+ years in the electrical trade, I have seen some really crazy installations, mostly done by fly-by-nighters that think they are electricians because they can twist two wires together, and by mostly by non-union tradesmen that didn't have enough training or experience.

I can imagine. I'm not an electrician by any means, but I've taught myself how to do the small stuff. We're completely remodeling a house, so I have to. Electricity scares the XXXX out of me. When i was 7, my grandfather got into some power lines and i saw the damage.
