I'd say ATL got the better of this one, especially since they didn't have to part with Teheran, Graham and Bethancourt.

It's Upton and Chris Johnson for Martin Prado, Randall Delgado, Nick Ahmed and Zeke Spruill.

LOL, Prado is valuable, but you are not happy about a guy that was probably walking next year for a potential superstart you have control of for 3 years?

And Chris Johnson can hit. He's streaky, but he will be a nice #7 or #8 hitter and you don't have to worry about Juan Francisco playing every day now.

So Atl lineup will look something like this:

SS - Simmons
RF - Heyward
LF - J. Upton
1B - Freeman
CF - B.J. Upton
C - McCann
2B - Uggla
3B - Johnson

or

CF - B.J. Upton
RF - Heyward
LF - J. Upton
1B - Freeman
2B - Uggla
C - McCann
3B - Johnson
SS - Simmons

I think BJ will lead off and Chris Johnson will be in the 2 spot. Simmons will bat 8th.

I could see BJ leading off. Not sure CJ will bat 2nd. I guess it all depends on how every one is hitting. Honestly, you have 6 guys in your lineup that I could see batting 4th....There are about 25 different lineups with those 8 players.

Johnson shouldn't hit anywhere above 7th. The guy is an out machine and swings at everything. He is Juan Francisco without the raw power.

I hate losing Prado as well as the difference between him and Johnson is huge - roughly 4 wins according to BR. But as Markaksi noted, they get him for 2 years after Prado would have left anyway as it is doubtful the Braves would have ponied up for him. Hopefully, Upton returns to 2011 and 2009 form thus offsetting the loss of Prado for 2013.

Yeah Fredi will be tinkering with the lineup for the 1st month until McCann is healthy. I see the Braves having at least 6 guys with 20+ HR's, maybe 7 if Chris Johnson plays everyday and McCann is back to his old self.

Thank Goodness for Twitter and MLB Network. Otherwise currently on ESPN they are discussing the New Orleans Pelicans new team colors, Ray Lewis in his last game, Miami Hurricanes NCAA investigation...and Manti Te'o non existent Girlfriend.

ESPN is saying it's a DONE DEAL! The Upton brothers in ATL

ATLANTA -- The Braves have reached a preliminary agreement to acquire Justin Upton from the D-backs in exchange for five players, including Martin Prado.

According to a Major League source, the Braves will get Upton and Chris Johnson in exchange for Prado, shortstop prospect Nick Ahmed, Class A infielder Brandon Drury and right-handed pitchers Randall Delgado and Zeke Spruill. The deal is pending the completion of physicals.

With this trade, Braves general manager Frank Wren provides his club arguably the game’s best outfield. Earlier in the offseason, Wren signed Justin Upton’s older brother, B.J. Upton, to a five-year, $75.25 million contract. Atlanta's projected outfield over at least the next three seasons will consist of Jason Heyward and the two Upton brothers.

To complete this trade, Wren had to part ways with Prado, who is one of the Braves’ most popular players among his teammates and the fans. But he was able to acquire Upton without giving up either of his top two pitching prospects, Julio Teheran or J.R. Graham.

The departure of the versatile Prado signals that the Braves will likely enter the season with Juan Francisco and Johnson sharing third-base duties.

Upton has hit .278 with 108 homers and an .832 OPS since making his Major League debut during the 2007 season. The 25-year-old was one of the game’s top outfielders in 2011, hitting .289 with 31 homers and a .898 OPS. A thumb injury limited him this year to a .280 average with 17 homers and a .785 OPS.

Hmmm, does this help or hurt Zeke Spruill's stock? I unfortunately have a huge stock of Elite autos (#/99, #/25 and less).

B.J. leading off is a terrible idea. Doesn't get on base nearly enough. He's a 6 or 7 hole hitter with pop and speed.

Boy am I glad this went down. We lose Prado, but we actually SHED cap with him leaving and Upton coming in. The Braves have more cap room now, which I hope will in turn leading to another bench bat. I was always a fan of Prado and Delgado, but as it has been said before, the Braves would have had to overpay Prado to keep him in Atlanta, and Delgado was not going to become a fixture in our rotation with the depth that we have.
Great deal Wren and I am glad he is starting to make a splash moves wise.

At present this trade is even. It will take a while to see which team won it. It is mutually beneficial to both teams NOW though.

I do not like the direction our line up is going bat wise. We don't have a true a obp guy anymore. Worries me.
