As an expert witness he would be qualified to speak to the levels of testosterone in the blood. Not because he was a dr.. But because he had enough real or faked knowledge on the subject to sway the appeals panel his clients way. Which if true he clearly did. This would be a valuable source since Braun stood to lose millions and millions with a stuck positive test result.. The appeal panel should be able to confirm him as an expert. I'd pay 30k for testimony to save 5,000,000! Also steroids despite contrary opinion are cheap. A cycle isn't more than a couple of hundred.
Oh, I agree in principle with you. My problem is using this @$$clown as an expert witness for anything. Selling PEDs makes you an accomplice, not an expert. A street dealer just has a different office, but the same experience. The real problem is MLB allowing this guy to serve as anything of a reference/witness.

Ok, if Braun did use this guy as a witness it will be on the record with MLB. If Braun just used him as a "resource" or consultant well that doesn't pass the smell test with me. Of all the consultants on this issue in the world, Braun just happened to find the one that was also giving out steroids and other treatments like candy at halloween, yeah right.

And to top it off he didn't pay him, even though he won his appeal????????? yeah right

Also MLB is investigating this, as well so we will see

Who would be a better witness than this guy?

My point was that if he was used in his MLB hearing as a expert witness there will be a record of it with MLB. If MLB doesn't have any testimony from this guy then I think Braun might be in for a bad time.

I understand, but the scum (err, guy) would also be a good 'trial consultant' that would be able to tell a defendant what the prosecution is doing wrong.

You wouldn't use MLB doctors as consultants against the MLB in court. The consultation would be worth 100k if it got the suspension overturned.

I still don't understand how the MLB drug policy isn't secret until all avenues have been exhausted.

This.

I believe his statement currently.

There's a reason these guys are afforded a due process when it comes to this stuff and it's a shame that info gets leaked before everything has been investigated and may turn the fans against a person who is innocent of steroid usage.

While I tend to agree. He did test positive for synthetic testosterone. He's kind of a liar.

I have never seen so many people not know what they are talking about in a single thread.

I get arrested on a drug charge. I don't call former law enforcement or narcotic experts, I'll call "Dime Bag" Daryll down the street to consult me on how to beat the charge. Do the believers see how ridiculous this sounds?

While there's a Dime Bag Daryll pretty much everywhere, the number of PED dealers who work with MLB clients are a much more exclusive group.

Why go to Bosch? « Brew Beat

It isn't as crazy as it sounds. I honestly don't believe either side at this point, and have my suspicions about Braun now more than ever. I want to post this article because it is a good read, and comes from Wendy Thurm a writer for Fangraphs who spent 20 years as an attorney.

So to beat a PED charge you would employ a known PED peddler?
To beat a murder charge you'd consult OJ Simpson?

All it would take is one cross examination, "Mr. Braun, do you know or have any association with anyone who supplies PEDs?"

"Uh, yeah. I have one on my payroll, for advice."

"No further questions."
