I believe it's because of the "mystery" redemption. With the products releasing at roughly the same time and the mystery autograph being in both products, the impact should help both products and still give the allure of "mystery" for a bit.

plus from my understanding the redemption from Metal wont be revealed until the redemption from Valiant is out. So it would suck to have to wait a month or 2 to find out who it is.

I'm pretty sure anybody that is local to DFW and orders direct from Leaf can pick up their orders at the facility on the release date just like you can pick up completed BGS orders on the completion date if you're local. I'm certainly sure we'll see the base and other stuff coming as soon as they can get them listed.
