Once again, A seller can ask what he wants for a card for whatever reasons he feels justified. If the potential buyer doesn't like the price he can make a counteroffer. If the seller politefully declines then maybee you can come to a meeting of the minds and WIN/WIN. There is no need getting confrontational with the seller.....If I were in the sellers shoes then I would have told Ziegler to move on as well!!!!!!!

Agreed. Just because a buyer things something is worth a certain amount doesn't mean squat if the seller disagrees. If he wants to move the item quickly I'm sure that would be fine but if he/she is fine with it sitting there until someone comes along to pay what he feels its worth it is up the seller. And I could care less who the buyer is. Just because he is a MLB makes zero difference to me.

I thought the seller came across much better than Ziegler did. The seller seemed polite and professional and Ziegler came across as a ******.

Ziggy should have dropped it after the first couple of exchanges and comes off kind of dicky, but the seller is a massive tool for sending their private negotiations to Deadspin. Let me repeat that, the seller does not come off like a massive tool, he IS a massive tool. It's not like Ziegler was threatening to come beat him up or anything, he was just trying to get the card at a fair price.

The whole problem here is that the seller has no idea what the card even is and therefore can not know the value of what he has.

He knows it is a Babe Ruth cut with pieces of jersey. I mean really? It must be more rare than signed baseball because Topps cut it out from whatever it was in and put it into a baseball card with more cut out pieces of jersey. He admitted he is new to the hobby and I am not sure he even knows what to do as far as research for a price goes. He sounds to me like one of the dudes stuck in the 80's claiming to have millions of dollars worth of McGwire rookies cards. With so many cut autos that have seen the open market there is noway in hell this is worth anywhere close to that price.

Both are douches for the record.

Im with alex on this and at the end of the day the seller will still be holding the redemption.

I think the player is more accurate on the pricing but an ******. "The life of a major leaguer" who earns millions.. Stop negotiating and nut up.

I think the seller is less asshaty but still asshatish. Saying "that's what's great about America" is very 1988 hulk hoganesque. I wanted to chant USA while he beats Nikolai volkoff.

I think deadspin is the most asshatful for sharing. Not that they are a viable source of information but.. Hahaha really?

The seller still has the right to ask whatever he wants for the card, whether or not he has any idea or not what the card is!!!!!!!!!!He may or may not need educated on card values, but that is no reason for a potential buyer act the way Ziegler did. my 2 cents again.........

I work in the I.T. Department. Would you like me to get you a new keyboard? It looks at though your "Exclamation" key is sticking again.

As far as your 2 cents go...be educated before trying to sell something so you have an idea that the potential buyer is not low balling you and that you don't have to stand behind an American flag to try to sell something over priced on eBay.

My 2 cents. You can have yours back... Ahhhh yes... The life of an I.T. Specialist.

About that keyboard... Call in a ticket and we will get it replaced for you.

Yes, just what the hobby needs... more people who are uneducated on card values :benson:

This is part of the reason why I say there are too many unprofessional ebay sellers - anyone can be one!

I agree. The fact he couldn't let it go and just go after another Ruth card of similar rarity makes no sense. He certainly has the means and if the seller really is asking four times what it's worth, Z is probably just wasting his time.
