A professional knows how much a service or product is worth - and consensus is that this guy doesn't know how much his product is worth. This alone makes this seller unprofessional.

To paraphrase what you said: Don't confuse someone who doesn't know what something's worth with a professional.

That's not paraphrasing, but you would make a great politician.

I personally think Ziegler got what he deserved, come on let's try to rub it in the sellers face that he is a mlber and has all these cut autos of Ruth. Seriously what an ass. Why not let it go? You made your pitch he didn't want to drop the price. Move on

Using the same logic the seller got what he deserved. An education in valuing a card within the confines of the market.

The seller says things like "The value of this card cannot be compared to others because it is the only one of its kind", but then tries to research it anyway. Then he says "I chose to sell the redemption to guarantee the condition of the actual card". What a nonsensical statement. And then "You clearly know nothing about this card bc there is only one".

I would feel insulted if I was a Babe Ruth collector too, so I find no fault in Ziegler's responses. If he had thought the seller actually knew even a little bit about the card, he probably would have dropped it (and it seemed like he did drop it after his third response, so I'm guessing Deadspin left out even more of the seller's ridiculous responses). But it is clear from the responses that the seller is not as educated as he pretends to be, especially in light of what we now know from his fcb posts. It wasn't like Ziegler tried to steal it from him for $2000. He made a legitimate offer as a very knowledgeable buyer of Babe Ruth autographs.

I agree that the seller does not have to sell it, but just say that instead of trying to back it up with all of this "you ebay buyer don't know anything about my awesome card, so I can't waste my time with you arguing over this, even though I'm going to sadly waste just as much time as you".

Agreed.

But nothing happened to the seller? Except he didn't sell it to Ziegler. As far as the valuing the market- he could sell it next week for 9k and come out ahead. I am sure he knows he won't get 20k out of it.

Didn't the seller say he had several offers around $9000? If that's the case and he hasn't sold it yet then he or she is holding out for a dream or is flat out lying.

Yea that's what he said, that's why I said they could sell it next week and come out ahead. Either way IMO Ziegler is an ass and the seller is being greedy. Not that I blame him for that lol. Just goes to show you that anything you post that goes on the net can bite you in the ass.
