Here you go elmalo, another Yankee they are going to tell "just hit 30 homeruns, the other numbers don't matter".

Good luck

***If any hitting coach EVER said this to Texeira/Granderson as you and markakis have stated, they surely wouldn't last long in that position.

like i said, the hitting coach doesn't have a decision in the matter. it's not Kevin Long that is telling them to do it. It's the Yankees upper management and it's Long's job to teach them how to do it. Which is why Curtis Granderson's .230 average/40 HR season is such a "success" for Long in the media's eyes. it's also mainly LH hitters. Which is why they have such a short porch in right.

If Vernon Wells were acquired by any of the other 29 teams, the universal response would be that it's a bad to irrelevant move and very unlikely to help that team win a championship. There is no reason to have a different view because the Yankees signed him.

WhatI said has nothing to do with Vernon Wells. All I said was that I dont think they are going to be as bad as people think.

Thank god Dipoto found a taker for Wells and got them to pick up a small portion of the contract as well. The biggest thing for the Halos, is Scioscia won't be given the opportunity to take away AB's from Bourjos and Trumbo. If it wasn't for Torri's son's troubles and Wells getting hurt, Trumbo wouldn't have seen the field last year.

I was talking about our previous discussion in reference to Tex....
And I never said that the hitting coach told him not to worry about ave, obp. Someone said the the Texiara contract was a horrible contract and that he was getting paid way too much for his production. I said that the Yankees were paying him to drive in runs, which he has done.

"All the particulars of the money for the deal with the Angels have not yet been finalized, but the Yankees will end up paying somewhere between $12 million and $14 million of the $42 million owed to Wells in the final two years of his contract.

The Yankees will likely end up doling out $10 million or $11 million for 2013 and $2 million or $3 million for 2014.

It is a complicated formula, but, in the end, Wells' money will either have no impact on the $189 million goal for 2014 or the Yankees will receive a credit. Since Wells' contract has been traded once before, the Yankees may receive as much as a $2 million savings toward their '14 luxury tax figure. So Wells potentially will help on the field and in the boardroom."

The guy is getting $22 million a year for about the next 4 years and he's 32 now. It's a horrible contract. The last three seasons he's hitting right around .250 and is not driving in anything to brag about when getting paid that much money.

The Bronx is Vernon! His 9th Home Run on the season!

And hell, Lyle Overbay is having a (dare I say much) better year than Teixeira last year through the same amount of games.

That awkward moment when Vernon Wells has the same amount of home runs as Albert Pujols and Josh Hamilton combined.

Exactly, sad but true.... The Yanks have survived just fine with all the injuries. I'm happy Overbay is producing too, always liked that guy

This season has quelled the whole "buying wins" strategy. Approx. 100M on the DL for the Yankees, while 6 teams with a payroll north of 100M are sitting under .500.

Obviously early in the season, but still shows how unpredictable the game is.
