Worst: Have never met him, but Rickey Henderson

Heard so many stories about how he never signs ip if you happen to run into him. "Unrivaled arrogance" were the exact words used.

I have to disagree with you on this. I met him and spent quite a bit of time with him. Couldn't have been nicer. Very polite and respectful.

Andrew McCutchen is one of the nicest guys out there. I had a blast meeting him in winter of 2011. Aside from just being friendly, he was joking around with everyone and took a kid's mini helmet and put it on his head and left it on for some pictures.

I've run into Luis Tiant a few times, and he's always been very cool to everyone. At a charity signing he asked if I wanted any inscriptions.

Bill Lee has to be the best guy I've ever seen at a signing. This was at a charity event here in CT with Tiant and a few other guys. He dressed up in a turn of the century Red Sox uniform. Signed everything with an "Earth 2006". And then invited everyone to the local minor league game and gave out tickets.

Jim Rice was a total *******. Wouldn't look up or shake anyone's hand. Remember this was a charity event. I think he's mellowed since he got into the Hall of Fame.

Couldn't agree more. I've gotten his auto IP and TTM and have had all positive experiences. My most recent TTM was sent to him last fall and returned in February. The postage rates went up in the meantime. My SASE came back with an extra stamp in addition to the two forever stamps I had put on.

Nicest - Tug McGraw (RIP). I went to see him at a show. Talked to me for a long time. Even got up to play with my niece. I had him sign a pic and later thought I should of got a card and he heard me say that and said Go get a card and I did and he signed it for me free. Every person that came in for his auto he shook there hand and smiled and talked to them all as if they were all his friends. Such a shame he passed away.

Worst? - for me Larry Bowa. Paid for his auto and wouldn't even look at me. Just took my card signed and threw it back at me and not once did he even look at me because he was so busy talking to his friend next to him.

Our family met Dave Martinez, the Cubs outfielder, in Atlanta during 1984. Very nice guy who talked with us for over half-an-hour.

Ozzie Guillen is sooooooo nice. He shot the bull about his saltwater fish tanks for 45 minutes on this cruise I was on with a girl that I just met at a CVS where I was getting ointment for burns I sustained while digging cards out of a flaming car in the desert.

Seems a little far fetched but it was the best day of my life, hands down.

Bar none?

I've met several players through my work, and most of them are pretty nice. It's a very different situation than a fan asking an athlete for an autograph; we're on a client/salesperson basis, so it's expected we won't make a big deal over them, or ask for autographs.

Rocco Baldelli is by far the best experience I've had, very down to earth guy who did nothing to make you think he was anything other than a regular guy. Tedi Bruschi is also a nice guy, he used to come in the store with his family during his playing days quite a bit. Spent a lot of money on expensive shoes and clothes! You can also add Philip Humber, Jason Hammel, George Kottaras and Joe Thurston to the good-guy list.

Deion is, as mentioned, a huge ******. Strolling through the store one day with his entourage, a little kid had the misfortune of recognizing him and asking for an autograph. "Nah kid, Deion don't do that stuff" was his response. Robert Manuel (obscure MiLB lifer, briefly up with the Red Sox a few years ago) was a creepy bastard; trying to get a saleswoman into the fitting room with him, and being really open about wanting her to fit a pair of jeans around his package. Then there was Carson Palmer, who was easily dumber than the shoes he bought.

Whatever

Anyone have any stories on Harper? I heard some good stories, and some bad ones
I've seen Harper twice, once in the minors and once at Camden. In the minors, he signed for about 40 people without a problem, but there was a long line and you had to be in the right place at the right time. At Camden, he just came up to me and another guy and said "what's up guys" and signed for about 15 people. I like that he takes the effort to sign even though he is a superstar.
