Where did this rule get invented? Family definately doesn't trump an interview in that situation....nor would it at my place of employment. They were in the freaking dugout for heavens-sake! Tell Joba to take his family into an office somewhere if they need to talk that badly....
Its no rule, its called common courtesy. And yes family trumps a simple last minute interview. The only requirement many athletes in general have is to attend press conferences not off the cuff interviews.
Either way that is not the point, the point is that Mo was rude with his comment. He could have been polite about it.
