The sky is not falling in FCB folks. Chris is not going to make FCB into BMB 2.0
If you as a member are worried about the tightening of the rules you are worried about one of two things, 1 you wont be allowed to troll or 2 you wont be allowed to be a dick just for being a dick sakes. If neither of these worry you then you will be fine, if they do, then thats who needs to go. Trolling for trolling sake and being a dick for dicks sake is not a good thing.
Now if someone does troll you or is a dick to you and you defend yourself or are a dick back to them whos going to be the on reprimanded? The original troll / dick, not the poster that defended themselves. Everything that Chris and other mods have posted in here seems clear to me.

I won't need to log in any more, since you are basically posting everything I think.

eerie!

I just wanted to pop in and say that although I haven't been here that long I think this is a great forum. I would like to see more quality card related posts. Although I do get a chuckle from some of the posts on here at times I would like to see a bit less trolling. I will say I notice it less here than other forums I have been on but there are only a couple I get on much.

Most guys have been very welcoming and helpful to me when I first joined up. I try to be the same way to anyone new or that reaches out to me. Don't sweat the small stuff and lets keep this a great forum. What's the point of some of the nitpicking here? Just get over it. I don't think the mods are going to go overboard. All you have to do is read this thread to see that. How about making a post about some cards your excited about or just got.

You want to fix this site how about most of the members STFU about bs focus on cards and actually do some trading and selling. The Transactions and other forums besides baseball might as well not exist.
Might as well call this FBS " freedom to bulls*** " forums.

I like to talk about bs like the rest but I think the focus on cards as gotten lost here. And constant complaining about Topps and how it is run has gotten very stale. You don't like what they do? Make a change make your own cards run your own company see how it goes.
Yeah they do some dumb stuff with redemptions. Here is a solution sell them, don't buy them or don't buy wax if you don't want them or have issues with Topps.

And if you can't take a little sarcasm by Internet tough guys then you have bigger issues.

The "Freedom" should be changed to just like every other board. Blowout Bump Nazis and Beckett organize nazis drive me nuts.

/rant :-)

The first part of your post is exactly what we are trying to do.

I have no problem with the "changes". It shouldn't affect most people. It seems that some people don't like any changes for better or worse. Those that left when FCB v2.0 rolled out where just looking for a reason to leave. If it allows more people who are "scared" to post to become active that's great. The hobby is pretty cyclical (the Topps monopoly doesn't help either)

I think the problem is, and this is repeating on the Net 54 boards as well, if you don't have an interesting topic or two going on, then we as collectors get bored and if we post, we want to post about something else so we begin the cycle of non on-point posts. While I'm OK with that, some very serious people see their attempt at serious posts derailed and get angry that we start talking about things un-related to the topic. It's not a case of better moderation, it's a case of getting new eyeballs to this site. I think, and I could be wrong, that there really are not a lot of outlets to publicize this board and this site and thus we're suffering more from a lack of new blood then a moderation issue. I check this board almost every day and there is no doubt the traffic is down as well as the quality of posts. Answer, find a way to promote the site and move on.

With threads being prevented from escalating into idiocy and flame wars, does that mean the end of the Hall of Shame?

And does this thread qualify?
Just kidding... or am I?

I think it's a legit contender...

I think this is all dumb...obviously @cgilmo and the other mods have a 1% in mind...Why not ban that one percent now, and carry on instead of hiking up the shorts and acting like "big changes" are coming or are even needed. Bottom line: something has got to be done to promote more members/more posting. "Tighter" moderation is like throwing chemical weapons at the innocent poor folk...

I wish the mods would sticky the members player collectors thread. Nobody knows who collects anyone and there is no damn reason that the thread shouldn't be a sticky.

cgilmo - Is something like the player collectors thread something we could make an exception for based off of request/majority of collectors speaking about it? I know we don't want to do things like this for too many things, but a Player Collectors Thread actually does contribute to the collectibility aspect as well as something that many members want in a good way.
