Being a dick to someone just because they support a rival team shows how much of an absolute lowlife someone really is.
I was at a Seahawks game and we were playing the cardinals. One fan walking the concourse behind us wearing his cards jersey had his nachos slapped out of his hands by a dude wearing a hawks jersey. The rest of us turned and jawed with the slapper idiot and he walked off pissed. Someone slipped the cards fan 10 for a new plate of nachos.
Be a fan. Respect the other team and fans and everything works out better

I can give an example of just how big of DICKS opposing fans can be.
We were in Cleveland 4 yrs ago for the opening game vs the Vikings. I was not in Vikings gear, but all of my friends were.
While tailgating, mind you, all we were doing was grilling, having some beverages and playing bean bags, we had full unopened cans of beer thrown at our area from rows over, deep fried chicken thrown at us, beer cups knocked out of our hands while standing around, verbally taunted, walked into with leaned in shoulders, etc.
While walking into the game from the lot, the Browns fans did their typical "********, ********, ********" chant.
Inside the stadium, people were throwing food our way, taunting, puffing chests out, etc.

Two of the guys in our group bought those horns you can blow into outside in the parking lot. They walked thru security with them, never being told they could not bring them in. It was when AP scored, they took out their horns and blew them, to the cheers of a few other Vikings fans in the area. Later when the Vikings scored again (2nd quarter I believe) they blew them again. Within minutes, security was up in our area and took the two of them out into the concourse area. Being I didnt have Vikings colors on, I went down to check on them after a few minutes. This effing rent a cop had such a power trip hard on that he was taking down their info before he was having them removed from the stadium. I went back up and told our group they were being kicked out.

With the game in hand in the fourth quarter, there was still the from a distance taunting, the taking off of the shirts and puffing out of the chests from the drunk XXXXtards in the area. An on duty officer came up to us and said for the safety of your group, I will be walking you out of the stadium. Seriously, for the safety of us? WTF does that tell you about your fans? That they are piles of XXXX if for my safety you need to walk me out. Yes I was thankful that they took the initiative to do this, but how about instead of kicking out the two in my party that had horns that you kick out the effing drunks making threatening comments?

Back at the lot, most of the Browns fans had left long ago, so our van was one of the few that were left in the lot. I truly thought that when we returned the windows would be broken and tires slashed, surprisingly enough, all was in tact. We hung out for a bit and there were still a few drunk taunters that approached us. Not wanting to spend anymore time in Cleveland, let alone jail, we packed up and bid ado to the mistake by the lake.

It is amazing to me that idiots cant have the common sense to have a fun rivalry and drink some beers together and shoot the XXXX about their teams, but rather take it to a violent level.

I see what you're trying to do there. Cute.

I understand and agree with the point Alex is making. Too many Giants fans (Lisa, I appreciate what you wrote) slapped a label on Dodgers fans because of what the criminals masquerading as Dodgers fans did to Bryan Stow. Bottom line is (and I've said it here and lots of other places too many times to count), there are scumbag POS in YOUR team's gear that are not indicative of the team's fan base as a whole. The old saying is especially true here - a few bad apples don't ruin the bunch. It's a tragedy what happened to Stow, and if it's proven that team rivalry played a part then it's just as much a tragedy in this case.

That being said, the title of this thread and the opening remarks basically assume something about an entire fan-base; which is just what the argument is against. There was no qualification in the OP, and there was no attempt at a caveat. If you read JUST the opening post, it comes off as "seeeeee, XXXX you guys too." Now, other posts were made to clarify the point, but the original post still stands and is argumentative and baiting before anything else (to include being an informative post/thread).

ahhh what did that broad get booted for?

I believe much of it had to do with thread-stalking, specifically the originator of this thread. She would have lost her XXXXing mind if she were allowed to post. She's probably lurking right now, freaking out. She would have taken the bait HARD on this thread.

Man some people in California have issues. I don't think we take our sports that seriously in Texas other than Highschool and College football.

It's to bad poseybuster got banned this thread could have made for Hall of Shame in 2 seconds.

I don't think this is just a California fan issue but rather an issue that affects all sports all over the country. It's a shame.

You are semi correct, the original post stand as is, correct. I am not going to edit that, but the reason why isn't because of baiting it is because of a couple of years being called out or made fun of or blatantly disrespected for being a Dodgers fan because of the Stow incident. And though not ALL Giants fans were involved the ones that were know who they are. So it is stance that says, you are no immune. That's all, not a F U or anything like that, but I can see how you could possibly read into my post as that.

I agree that it is not just California as I said some California fans not ALL have issues.
The sad part is people can be idiots no matter where they live and adding alcohol to the mix doesn't help them become any smarter.

I have never read anything about people being killed in other states due their team of choice like I have with these 2 specific Giants/Dodgers incidents. I don't blame it on the teams and it's a shame that they are even apart of the news story or this conversation. It has everything to do with the thugs who did what they did. The thugs who wear particular colors and kill over it are no different than those who wear different team gear and kill because of it.
The world is a f&&&& up place thankfully America is a better place than most of the world out there.

I just did a search, and I guess you are right. There is violence all over the country (Yankees fan beaten up at Camden Yards for example), but the only time people have been killed in the recent history have been in California.

We did have an umpire pull a knife when a player got upset about a bad call. It's just that there are a lot of gang members, so that even regular citizens carry weapons in California, so rather than just a normal fistfight which normally wouldn't get into the news, it ends up with someone getting seriously hurt or killed.

Would it be fair to say that MOST Giants fans aren't the ********** you're rightfully complaining about? See my point?

However, I understand your frustration.

Fair point.

See. We're two rational guys who maybe had a slight difference of opinion, but we handled it like adults. If only everyone could be as calm and forthright as the 2 of us!

Most people are - it's unfortunately just the idiots like these two groups of guys fighting who aren't able to stay calm. I have no doubt that alcohol contributed to this though.

Aaaaaaaaaand PoseyBuster was the one banned.........

Because she couldn't keep things civil. Keeping things civil is why I made my first post. Her membership isn't up for discussion.

Which is why I made the first reply. Alex knows.

Threads like this are why this site has declined.

It's actually posts like this one. Doom-sayers.
This thread is fine. It focuses on a very heinous act that possibly ties into a heated rivalry in baseball. It's a very valid point of discussion. It's all in how it is discussed.
